Yeah, what I really want is a steel DE89 or maybe EJ can have a version of the 3one6 that is less aggressive. Kind of like the Game Ghanger .68 vs .84.The 3one6 is way more aggressive than the de89. Your first shave should have alerted you to that fact -- and also the mixed reviews on its aggressiveness/mildness. Glad you found the right blade/angle combination for your face. YMMV.
Blade exposure looks neutral but the gap is larger than the DE89. Therefore at the neutral angle use less pressure. Here is an illustration on one of your pictures; the blade is not clearly in focus but you get the idea. This design is not significantly dissimilar from the Game Changer .84 in terms of blade gap.Yeah, what I really want is a steel DE89 or maybe EJ can have a version of the 3one6 that is less aggressive.
Everyone wants a SS DE89. That's what we thought we were getting. I find the angle a bit awkward, too. The only reason I'm keeping it is because the price was so good, and after reading reviews, I don't think there's going to be a big second-hand market.Yeah, what I really want is a steel DE89 or maybe EJ can have a version of the 3one6 that is less aggressive. Indeed, I did find the angle that works for me but that doesn't mean I like shaving that way. I don't find riding the cap very intuitive. In any case, I will give it some more time to see how I adapt.
I agree that the 3one6 is more of a departure from the DE89 than expected.Everyone wants a SS DE89. That's what we thought we were getting. I find the angle a bit awkward, too. Fate has decided for you: https://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/community/index.php?threads/ej-3one6Thanks. Ive acquired in the last month the RR gamechanger .84, Merkur slant and Fatip piccolo (yesterday) so I may buy in the future (or if I see one in the BST forum)
Edwin Jagger, if you are reading this and with all due respect, this is what many of your customers want. Please pay attention.Everyone wants a SS DE89.
Gairdner,@ike it has been most educational so thank you. I'm actually yet to use mine having been in hospital but am itching to get grips with what I think is beautiful bit of British engineering and a great addition to the DE razor world.
