3-5 Soaps

Based on performance with scent in second place:

Martin de Candre
NSS 'Traditional' Down Home Summer
Theophile Berton 1867
Savon des Volcanes - Menthe et lait d'annesse
Comptoir des Savonniers d'Antibes

Based on scent but having good performance

NSS 'Traditional' Down Home Summer
Savon des Volcanes - Mandarine et Cedre
Le Pere Lucien - Cedre et Patchouli
Meissner Tremonia - Indian Flavour
Sir Irisch Moos

There are many more which I love too!

Currently on a great journey with soaps; have not quite narrowed it down to five favourites yet, but I would rank the soaps I have used as follows:

Tier -1- Tabac, Haslinger, Provence Santé, I Coloniali (Mango Oil), Institut Karité

-2- Antiga Barbearia, D R Harris, NSS Signature (Morrocan Sands), Lea, La Toja, Arko, Speik

-3- Prorasso (Green), Palmolive, Musgo Real, Cella

So far I have only relegated two soaps to shower duty - MWF and Colonel Conk.

  • Anything made by Valobra, in particular Valobra Stick, Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge, Art Of Shaving Sandalwood (discontinued tallow soap)
  • Cella
That's it!

Haslinger
Macca Root
Lea shaving stick

Honorable but boring mention to TOBS sandalwood.

I am very keen to try OSP though, P&B Spitfire, and this Wickhams (sp?) stuff. Recent jettisons include that Blue's Goat Soap (not a bad leather, smelt like chemicals). This month's comeback kids include Proraso creams, especially the green. I had written them off, but a general improvement in my shaving ability and lathering skills means that these workmanlike options deserve a place in the shaving world, if not at the top of the ladder (think Stoke City).
