And for this particular evening on Monday 1st October 2018 (Happy October everyone) my shaving theme was 'Displaying my wife'
Ladies handbag - Timeless 0.68 with a Polsilver Lodz
Wedgewood bowl - Muhle synthetic in imitation ivory finish (not butterscotch)
Ladies purse - Cella Crema Da Barba
Lipstick - Floris Santal
All displayed in my wife's cabinet in which she tastefully chooses to display bits of bling and some of the shiny items in life. Wedgewood being neither, but worthy of displaying anyway.
The nice thing about being home after two weeks away is that I have a full run on selecting what shaving accoutrements I can use on a daily basis. After two weeks of living with the General (a five star General at that and deservedly so) and enjoying some wonderful shaves, it is time to bring the Timeless .68 out of its short lived retirement and give it some loving care and attention. Possibly using it to shave with while doing so. I still swear I could admire everything about this razor all day long and never get bored. It remains (to me) an object with aesthetics to match its ability. The usual 'reach for' Polsilver Lodz as I can't think of much else the Timeless deserves. And I am a boring predictable bastard.
The Muhle ivory as it is literally the same as the butterscotch version, I like it and it is a brush. It does that brushy type thing brushes do
Now, the Cella. Not a cream I have used for many a day and it sits at the back in the bathroom doing naff all as I have become so obsessed with other very capable creams. How stupid of me. What a fantastic quality lather Cella can produce and with every shaving property you could ever wish for. Cushion, glide, moisturising and what every man wishes for in a fragrance, to smell like a Christmas cake. I do find it needs a bit more water than my usual creams but the results are more than rewarding.....except that air of marzipan.
The 0.68 remains never having let me down removing a couple of days growth with consummate ease. As smooth as any other shave I can recall and I still find it one of the kindest razors to deliver very effective results while leaning towards an aggressive shave. In reflection I cannot really see that much difference between the 0.68 and its assumed more aggressive brother the 0.95. But we all need a bigger brother in life and bigger numbers do always give that impression of being a hard sod.
So yet another great outing with the Timeless and even Mrs Satanfriendly made kind remarks on how smooth I was. That never happens. My granddaughter couldn't care less and pulled me up for calling her 'love' as apparently she has a name. Granddaughter 1, Granddad 0. To which all I could think was 'your bottom, my face, sorry I win this evening'
I take my hat off to Cella for playing its part in a very 'welcome back home' shave this evening
Oh, and Floris Santal as it is an absolute classic.
