SOTD : Saturday 21th April - Friday 27th April 2018.

A cold and fresh Saturday shave :-

After a very warm day trying to get the garden into some kind of shape; thought I would go for a cold water shave. Making it's debut was Arko Fresh Cream. At £1.95, & a tad mentholly thought I would give it a go. Sadly, something was a miss. My neck was left a little rough. I suspect the cheap cream o_O

Razor - Gillette Slim Twist
Blade - Feather (1)
Brush - Omega 10066
Cream - Arko Fresh
Balm - Arko Fresh.

What I will say - is that the Arko Fresh range has a lovely scent & has a small menthol hit. The balm is a great performer for me.

Have a great weekend gents. Happy shaving :)

Richard

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Alt Innsbruck Emulsion
Brush: Tony Forsyth P&C LE 2017 Platypus High Mountain White Badger
Soap: Fine Platinum
Razor: UFO Goliath / ATT SE1
Blade: Schick Proline P-30 (3)
Post: Alt Innsbruck Emulsion
Splash: Alt Innsbruck EdC
Scent: Aramis Havana EdT

A shave with another Fine soap - Platinum. The scent is a pretty decent take on Aventus. I am convinced that the Fine soap base is very good - it takes a bit of time to load, but the lather is very creamy, slick and persistent, with a nice post-shave feel. Three passes and a clean-up for a BBS, and I am :D.
A tobacco triple combo with the Alt Innsbruck Emulsion and Cologne, followed by Aramis Havana.
Now for the FA Cup Semi.................(and a shout out to my best enemy for today @Barry Giddens)
May the best team win Tom. As long as it's the Lillywhites!

Today, a full Dr Harris Windsor shave paired with Korres balm, Rockwell 6c and Fine synthetic brush.

Cheers

Brush: Rough,No Name Boar
Soap: Uncle Jon's 'It's just Cake'

a quality shave with 'It's just Cake', in both performance, and scent... thankfully, my wife enjoys baking cake, so that's an added bonus..... although, I've gained 5lbs since shaving with this soap... ;-)

Thursday.
Prep: Hot towel
Pre shave: Prep
Razor: Sensor Excel
Blade: N/A
Brush: Rough,No Name Boar
Soap: Phoenix and Beau 'Denali'
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / The Sudsy Soapery: Lavender & Peppermint Aftershave Splash

Phoenix and Beau 'Denali', what a wonderful lather...finished off with the chilling, eye watering post shave that is The Sudsy Soapery: Lavender & Peppermint Aftershave Splash ...

Saturday
Prep: Hot towel
Pre shave: Prep
Razor: Barbaros TR-1
Blade: Timor
Brush: 'El Monstruo' (Romera Manchurian 30/50 Fan)
Soap: Wholly Kaw 'Cuero Oscuro'
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / Wholly Kaw 'Cuero Oscuro' Aftershave Toner
Fragrance: Tom Ford 'Tuscan Leather'

the TR-1/Timor combo turned in a very underwhelming performance... I wonder whether the Timor is a just a 'one shave' blade...whatever the reason, the end result is BBS, even though it wasn't a pleasant experience, and finished off with Tuscan Leather, so it's not all bad, eh?

Wickham 1912 Parma Violet
YaqI Chianti 24mm synthetic
Rockwell 6C plate 4
PolSilver SI (3)
Lime witch hazel (home mix)
Floid Vigoroso AS

The YaqI brush arrived today and I just had to use it tonight.
It took literally less than 10 seconds to load. I was astounded that it could load this fast.
I face lathered, and the lather was perfect.
It has more backbone than my 24mm Tuxedo, and the tips are very soft.
No glue bump protruding at all.
The knot held the lather well between passes without it drying or dissipating.
I recommend this brush to anyone looking for a synthetic on a budget.
A very good shave tonight. BBS finish and smelling good.

Greetings,

A relaxing sunday morning 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

The dorco titan blade, paired nicely with the 34C, i've been pleasantly suprised by the performance of the inexpensive blades i've been shaving with, lately, the dorco blades are another recently tried wonder, they were gifted to me by a work mate who started de shaving the same time as myself but it wasn't for him so he kindly passed on most of his shaving kit to me, i've now used all of what was passed on, but i've shamefully neglected a omega 10049 boar brush & a Schmidt R10 razor, both i admit i've only used once ,out of shame & guilt, i'll add them to my brush & razor rotation in future sotd's, along with the excellent dorco titan stainless blades...'A superb shave'.

Finishing the shave off wonderfully, with a generous splash of Boots ~ freshwood a/s lotion.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your sunday, ladies & gentlemen.

Now finding this Razor very efficient in initial clearance phase, but needs working quite hard to ensure a really close shave. Luckily it is very forgiving and does not cause any irritation. Another weekend away officiating, but luckily on Sunday quite close to home.
