SOTD : Saturday 4th September to Friday 10th September 2021.

Wednesday 8th September

Semogue TSN LE Silvertip - Hampfat#2 - Gillette Super Blue Tech/Dorco Titan - Iceberg Twice EDT

Going to Angelsey for a walking holiday at the end of the week so with 2 long shifts to go before I go....this will be my last SOTD post for a little while. I have been checking out Tech razors for a little while to decide which one to take. It won't be this one! I had a great shave but it is in R41 territory for aggression. Most Gillette Techs are getting quite expensive unless bought as part of a grooming set so it looks as if I will be using a Lord L6 as it shaves well and is no big deal if lost.

2 passes and a touch up for an excellent {though slightly scary) result:)

Gem S/S ( 1 )
Tabac A/S Lotion

Moved up from a 1912 to a 1914, which is a smoother and more forgiving Shaver. Though I like longer handles. I adapt quite easily to this one, and was pleased to have got a rather Top Notch finish.

Brush - Yaqi Rainbow
Soap - Ach Brito Mogno
Razor - Gillette Rocket
Blade - Lord Classic Stainless Green (1)
Post - Brut Musk

I've been using Mogno for the last 3 days, and I've had a few issues with irritation with the lather, it's generally ok for the first pass, but I can feel a bit of a tingle for the 2nd pass, it's bearable but with the amount of soap I own I think it's probably should PIF my block at some point. The lather itself is a very good one, easy to lather, stable, good consistency for cushion and perfectly slick.

The Gillette Rocket I bought from @Rohleder is shaping up to be one of my favourite acquisitions for a long time, it's a touch more efficient than my Ball End Tech but still gloriously smooth and seems to work well with all the blades I have used with it. It produced a delightfully smooth and comfortable shave today with the Lord Classic Stainless.

Anyway gents, I hope you have a good day and enjoy the sunshine.

It's a real shame, Shubs
I hoped you wouldn't have experienced any skin irritation with Mogno, because it performs so well for me

Yet another top notch shave ...

I get what Darron was shooting for when he put the name "Christmas Spruce" onto this soap. It's spruce, it's pine and it's vanilla, all wonderful evocations of the festive season, but on the brush and under the nose it takes on quite a different meaning (if you like) and really comes through as a wonderfully fresh, light ... (and I hesitate here) powerhouse scent? It's most certainly a spruce/pine scent but not like Puig Quorum and certainly not like Pino Silvestre. It's more akin to my attars with the pine being more green and lively and everything rounded off with heady vanilla.

I started my day out with a good dab of Swiss Arabian Mukhallat Ghazal attar; notes being caraway, anise, musk, wood, vanilla & spice (so, not a million miles off something like Azzaro Pour Homme) and immediately knew it would be a great base for this evening's shave, picking up on the vanilla and spice in both the soap and aftershave.

Darron made a cracking soap here! It's not just for Christmas ...

Razor: Hone 15a
Blade: Astra SP, second use
Brush: PAA Phantom Aerolite Synthetic Shaving Brush
Bowl: 3D Printed Bowl Bowl
Preshave: PAA Cube Unscented Soap
Soap: Hampshire Wool Fat No. 3 Puck

A great shave as ever with the Hampshire wool fat, the scent has a real staying power through the day as well. The shave was as gentle and effective and just what I needed even though I was in a rush. A great start to a great day. 25CCC0B8-5BF2-4696-8C2A-FEC8583D51F1.jpeg
