Pre Shave: Hot Shower + L'Oreal Birch Sap Face Wash and Proraso White
Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable T2 (#7)
Blade: Gillette Platinum Plus - Brazil (#1)
Brush: Mason Pearson Super Badger
Cream: Proraso Blue
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Thayers Lavender Witch Hazel
AS: Proraso Blue balm

An absolutely wonderful shave this morning, first time using the Gillette Platinum Plus blades, and they are superb. The real surprise was the Super Adjustable, I already have a 1965 Slim which is one of my favourite razors. What makes this T2 so special (no not birth year that is the 1965 slim) is I got this along with another razor I was after and so I was not too disappointed when it turned out the safety bar was well out of whack on both sides. The razor looked pretty mucky in the eBay photos but it did clean up very nicely, after some google foo I set about the razor with a butter knife and to my surprise I managed to coax the safety bars back into what looked a good enough state to me. Today was the first shave with the razor and what a superb result, totally smooth shave and finish. I am well chuffed!

Evening shave.

BBA Face Wash.
B&M Reserve Cool.
Maseto 30mm Finest.
Little Wren Pottery.
Brass General.
Proline P-30 (1).
RazoRock XXX Aftershave.
BBA Post Shave Balm.

Well I wish I had read through the B&M threads before using this soap. It went very sticky and stringy in the bowl so I kept patiently adding water. But apparently I should have restricted the water and just kept working the brush until the lather reached the right consistency. So it was a bit thin. Very slick though. Never mind, I know for next time. Nevertheless, a very good shave.

Wickham 1912 Southsea Spray
RazoRock 400
Merkur 34C HD
Astra SP (1)
Proraso Green ASL
Dior Eau Sauvage EDP

I ditched the Shark blade after one use in favour of my usual Astra SP. Much more comfortable.
Southsea Spray soap creates a luxurious thick lather without much effort and smells good too
I'm sorry to report blood was let. It occurred during the second pass. I usually do my ATG pass from the ears to under the nose but for unknown reason I did it in the opposite direction. A nasty nick was sustained below the jaw line and the bleeding took over 2 hours to completely stop. Alum seemed to stop it several times but it started again after a few minutes.
My wife has told Me I'm to use an electric razor in future. . . . . Yeah, right !
One nick once in a blue moon I can live with
Eau Sauvage helped lift my spirits a bit

There is no need to ramble. ;)

A beautiful set up my friend. :)

Razor - Schick Type O clone
blade - mystery vintage single (2)
brush - Semogue 2015 HD
soap - SV Tundra Artica
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea 2 phase
balm - none, didn't need it.

Result - magnificent.

In part this shave was about what I didn't use - I have next to me as I type an astonishingly beautiful 1912 'Made in England' version - thanks P. In its Bakelite case. Pristine. I was kindly gifted earlier this year an American 1912 by @Wayne Pritchard and it proved to be my 'gateway drug' into vintage single edges. They are very good for me. I thought I would try a bit of delayed gratification - something I'm ordinarily very poor at achieving - and use my Type O clone again - which is also new, the second shave with it - I wanted to see what would happen with a heavier growth - 4 days. Just the same as last time - very mild in use but extremely effective. A wee bit of polishing after the second pass but it's so comfortable to use that it didn't irritate my skin whatsoever. I think you would have to be massively clumsy to draw blood with it. The brush was my first silver tip - it amuses me these days about the HD bit in its name - high density. Oh really? Compared to a Maseto 30mm or Chubby - I think not. I still enjoy using it when in the mood for a floppy wall of super soft badger hair though. A bit of nostalgia too. I'd forgotten how good the SV soap is - I reached for it again as I was having trouble coming up with my hard soap of the year. I wanted to revisit this and a Wickam's 1912 before voting. Tabac and O.S.P were the obvious front runners for me. The post shave feel of the SV is really top end - paired with the Nivea 2 phase I really really didn't need a balm. So - top end shave - count me as a happy bunny. Smoother than a Neolithic obsidian hand axe - originally fashioned by a Pre-Columbian shaman - used in their smooth initiation rituals and passed down through the generations. Yours all - I.
