Third shave with the Rocnel last night with two days growth. I may or may not get a final shave in with it tonight, so that'll only be a days growth. @Jonmaddock inspired me to reach for some tobacco soap last night, so I did, 1912 Sweet Tobacco, it's nice for a change, something completely different to my other soaps and it's good for an evening shave. The brush was the Maesto Finest Fan, short scrubby knot, whipped up a bloody good lather.

A two pass shave with the Rocnel, same blade on its third use. I think the first shave must have been a one off, I have no idea what happened, but the following two have been much better. That said, they still weren't AMAZING shaves. The were decent, close shaves, but still causing a little irritation and weepers on my neck and I don't find shaving with the Rocnel particularly enjoyable, it's a means to an end and then end isn't that fantastic anyway. You have to be very conscious of the angle of attack and the pressure you are using with this razor. Let's see if I get a chance to have a last shave today and risk upsetting the irritation on my neck further!

Pre: Washpool Farm Facial Cleansing soap, Myrsol Emulsion

Soap: Panna Crema
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)

Post: Myrsol Emulsion

Panna Crema Soap

This soap I believe is Italian, and it is a soft soap, or "croap". It is a little softer than Cella, for example.
Despite its soft nature, the soap does take a little working to lather, but produces very nice suds. I kind of feel like labeling it "the invisible soap", but that would be unfair and damning with faint praise. It is one of those products that does everything very well, and you don't really notice it (which is usually a good thing). The scent is labeled as Vetiver, but I did not pick this up - just a nice, clean "soapy" scent along the same lines as MWF or Halslinger Schalfmilch. The cushion, glide and slickness were all good, and post shave feel was nice. I had a little irritation on my neck, but I know that this was due to me rushing the shave and a little too much pressure, as I was running late.

Stirling Executive Man

Not too much left in the bottle, but from what I could extract, this comes across as a modern, and contemporary cologne scent, and as such well named. I can imagine it suiting a young professional on the up. Stirling has the ability to produce very nice scents for reasonable coin. I layered with Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, and this worked very nicely indeed.

Pre - RSC Facial Scrub
Soap - OSP Sandalwood
Brush - Omega S10065
Razor - Yingjili Tech
Blade - Personna Platinum Chrome (1)
Post Shave - Witch Hazel/RSC Balm

Maybe about 6 months ago the last time I used a Personna Platinum Chrome, I think it might have been roughly as sharp as a Astra SP but after using one again it was much sharper than I expected even in the YJ Tech which is a very mild razor.

The first time I used OSP Sandalwood I had troubles lathering it mainly down to leaving it in the sample pot supplied by Connaught and not loading up enough on the brush. The remainder of the sample I packed tightly into a ball and rubbed it on my face akin to a shave stick and face lathered with the brush and the results were outstanding. It was a thick, beautiful glossy lather and I had more than enough on my brush for the 3 passes and even more. Superb shave all in all, but I think there may have been some slight irritation from the OSP soap sadly. As the performance was so good, I will try another OSP sample at some point.

Haslinger Honey
Standard
Personna Lab Blue #2

Big Boar's No4 Bay Rum
Lisseáu Coconut Body Butter

DE time starts with my Standard, which with the Lab Blue gave a very easy, very close 3 pass.
The Lisseáu body butter came from my local Poundworld. It has a lovely coconut scent and absorbs quickly giving a great finish to the shave. Super value plus the tub can also be recycled as a soap container.
I just did a test lather with the haslinger honey soap its great stuff hard to beat for the price I also have the coconut one to try looking forward to it :)

Brush: Frank Shaving Purtech 26mm synthetic
Razor: Gibbs No 16
Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (3)
Soap: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola
Post: Thayers Rose & 4711 aftershave and cologne

Fantastic yet again, Gibbs is staying for now. Really enjoying the Wickhams and 4711 is a treat to use as always. Tomorrow will be a bit different, going to use a scuttle for the first time ever. It's not cold but I fancy trying it.

The club cola matching balm is due out very soon, perhaps end of this month

Figaro P.160
Omega 49
Supermax twin blade disposable
Skin Bracer
Boots #7 balm

Using up some razors that have been hanging around unused. I think this was my first time using a disposable since starting using DEs some years back. Top notch quick shave, 99% BBS, and no sting with the AS. Must say I preferred it to using the Sensor I very occasionally use, nice not to have the lube strip snail trail that puts me right off modern carts.

Wednesday

Man Cave Olivestone Facial Scrub
Proraso White Preshave cream
Vie-Long Horse hair Brush
Klar Kabinett Soap
Schick L1 Razor with Personna blade (#3)
Alum Block
GFT Coral Skin Food
Pitralon Swiss AS

After yesterday....this was a bit of a let down. Three passes and I was close to BBS....but just not there. I don't know if it is me, the razor or the blade! When my Proline B-20s arrive I will be able to remove one of those reasons as I believe that they are quite good.

Morning shave.

Lucky Tiger Face Scrub, bloom water.
Vulfix 404.
Mitchell's Wool Fat.
Merkur Progress (3).
Astra SP (2).
Thayers Witch Hazel (unscented).
Fine American Blend.

First proper use of the MWF. Bowl lathered with the Vulfix. I had to work a little harder to produce a good lather but thats fine. After the OSP, it didn't seem as slick, and was perhaps a little foamy. But I'm sure thats down to user error. I will be using it for the next week so hopefully will get it right. I will try face lathering tomorrow, and perhaps I will refrain from blooming the puck. (Any thoughts chaps?).
That said, it was a lovely, comfortable shave. 3 passes with minimal pick ups. BBS. Smashing!

I soaked my MWF overnight in plenty of water (after transferring it into an old Maca Root tub, although an old TOBS tub would work well).

It swelled to fit perfectly, and I the advice I received to give it a long term soaking to "get it going" seems to have worked well.

And load it like the devil itself is in there.
