S.O.T.D. Saturday 22nd April to Friday 28th April 2017

Yes, it's a 30mm Tuxedo knot. I can highly recommend it. It lathers everything and is silky smooth on the face.
Yes, I know - because I made a brush with such a knot in it, too ... ;)

Friday afternoon, after the gym...

Soap - The Fat
Brush - Semogue 2000
Face lather
Razor - Gillette Slim Adjustable (7)
Blade - Gillette Nacet #3
Post - Thayer's
Smell - Alt-Innsbruck EdC.

I haven't used The Fat for a while, so thought I'd reacquaint myself. Great stuff, IMO. I know it gets polarised reviews, but for me it's up there with Tabac, Haslinger and other great tallow based soaps (OSP leads the artisan tallows for me).

Lovely thick lather which helped the Slim/Nacet combo slough through a day's growth. One thing that I've noticed having been a convert to brush/soap/cream/DE/SE shaving for the last 2-3 years, is that I don't get irritation anywhere like I used to experience shaving every day, using gels and foams (not knocking them, you understand; I know loads get great results from them and I respect that).

Clearly, understanding and learning about good prep, products and technique has helped in getting (human mishaps notwithstanding) consistently good shaves with great post shave feel. So many thanks, everyone!

Georgetown Pottery G12 Scuttle (Hamada and Persimmon)
Rooney Polo 2 Finest (27mm/60mm)
Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet shaving soap (tallow) + cream
Feather AS-D2/Stork Consul Titanium
Wilkinson Light Brigade (6)
St. James Perfumery London Collection aftershave (vintage)

An excellent, "traditional" shave. The BB soap and cream make great superlather.

SOTD 28th April.JPG
Pre Shave: Hot Shower, L'Oreal Hydra Power Face Wash and Proraso white
Razor: Qshave Futur clone
Blade: Astra SP (#3)
Brush: Proraso Boar
Soap: Art of Shaving unscented
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Thayers unscented
AS: Lucky Tiger After Shave & Face Tonic plus Nivea for Men moisturiser

Third shave with the Qshave, this time set on 5. The end result was a very close shave, but I have to say you can really feel the blade on 5, I got one small weeper under my chin and most the shave area of my face was tingling until the Lucky Tiger went on. I also used some Nivea moisturiser as my skin was feeling quite 'tight' after the shave as well. Not sure if this was the very close shave from the razor or possibly the AoS soap. The soap easily whips up into a great lather especially using the Proraso brush. I think I will put the Qshave to side for a while, but I will definitely be using this razor again.

Razor...Iwasaki Kamisori 60mm
Soap...La Savonniere du Moulin
Brush...Cadman Bell TGN silvertip
Post...Thayers lavender
EDT...Paloma Picasso...Minotaure

With thanks to @nolisco for my sample of Moulin, it is a fantastic soap and was whipped up into a creamy lather with ease with my Cadman bell brush. I have already placed an order for a puck of this wonderful soap........enabler :)

So the lather was top draw, on to the shave..the freshly honed Kamisori just cut though the stubble as if it wasn't there, a fab shave was had, soft and smooth and no nicks whatsoever, the perfect shave.

Finnished off with Thayers and some Minotaure sprayed here and there. Looking good, smelling great, ready for the day.

Have a good one people.......:)
Great shot - love the warm color tone.
