Synthetic versus Simpsons

Dear gentlemen,

Since I've bought my Rockwell 6s I am in no need for another razor but maybe my Simpson Colonel XL2 needs a synthetic companion?
I looking for an equally good brush that has the qualities of a boar. Offcourse I can buy a boar but for now I'm looking for synthetic. Are the Maggards or Razorocks brushes any good? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it. Just a little something to sooth my compulsion!

Yes Hharry. I quote here what I have written in another forum (ATG) about them. Remember, YMMV :)

I have the following Omega S brushes:
s10018
s10065
s10081
s10083

I very much prefer the s10065, followed by s10018.
The s10081 is a little bit too floppy for my taste. I would have preferred more backbone to it.
The s10083 is too tall, similar to an Omega 49, and I cannot make the fibres to open nicely when lathering. Too springy. Otherwise a great brush.
The s10065 is a very good combination of fibre length and backbone (for me, YMMV). I would have preferred it with even less loft -but still, it works fine.
The s10018 looks similar to the 65 but the synthetic hair is a little bit longer. I think the knot is a little bit smaller too.
Please note that I do not know if there are sample variations.

In my limited experience, I consider Omega S brushes as the best value-for-money synthetic brushes, followed by very affordable RR Plissoft (at four times the price of a cheap S-brush though when the shipping cost to Europe is added to the final price). The Omega S tips are not as soft as the synthetic brushes mentioned before or after in this post though. But they are more than acceptable (again, YMMV) -especially when considering the price. I have no experience with Omega Hi-brush.

For comparison purposes, my top synthetic brushes are the Simpsons CH2 and the Edwin Jagger V2 XL 25mm. I like very much the RR Plissoft 24mm, and Maggards synthetic 26mm. I would have liked the RR Plissoft 26mm Monster with a liiiitle less loft as it is more dense than the rest of the more affordable synthetic brushes (that is, minus the CH2 and the EJ)

I find that no synthetic brushes can do better than the RazoRock brushes. And, the price is a no brainer. At least try one of those before moving on. So cheap and such a bargain. My long time friend bought the largest version of the RazoRock synthetic brush at my description and told me once again it proves to him that paying a lot doesn't mean much because his $100 shaving brush he doesn't use any more. Quoting him: :It proves you don't get what you pay for most of the time".

I can vouch for Maggard synthetics. With shipping from Maggards shouldn't cost you more than 20$. The knot type should be the same as Razorock but the handles are prettier on Maggards imo.
I also had Muhle Black Fibre 21mm knot, found it had better backbone and maybe a bit softer tips than Maggards, but was too small for me. The bigger ones should be fine I guess but are more expensive...
I also have Satin Tip the Purest and while similar to the Muhle, I prefer my Maggards.
I would also recommend getting a 24mm knot, but YMMV.

Plissoft and Muhle knots are great, they wizz up lather in no time and use very little soap in doing it.
They dry much faster than any other brush. So far I have been a Plisson-Plissoft knot enthusiast, until I tried the Muhle on a BSB (Rubberset 400 replica) which is amazing. Now I'm converted to the Muhle, not to say I don't enjoy my Big Bruce Plissoft or my Plisson.
