Hi,

I needed a new trimmer to use a shaver but not sure which one to buy.
I want it to cut similar to this product i found,

but it is too expensive and want something cheaper.

Or, it would be great if you can help find me something better for less.

Help would be very greatful.

Thanks.

Good question. Although we tend to favour something like this:

it's interesting to find out about more technologically advanced solutions.

Seriously, this is a forum for traditional wet shaving. The first step is to introduce yourself on the Welcome board, and then there will be plenty of friendly people to show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I used to use a trimmer as a shaver before I learnt how to shave properly, is that what you mean?

no, i need something that shaves like the first trimmer and wanted to know if the second one would produce similiar outcomes.

In all fairness, this probably isn't the best place to get this kind of advice. By all means hang around, in fact we'd encourage you to investigate what's in this forum, but aside from one or two head shavers I doubt that anyone will be able to help you.

Try here....

Hi Fire and welcome

I don't want to flame you on your first post (see what I did there ) but I assume you are wanting to shave your head? Generally this is a forum about shaving your face and trimmers don't get discussed very much, although we do have a few head shavers I know of no head trimmers in here.

Your post has no context, you want a product to shave similar to the first link, shave what? for all we know you could be doing a back sack and crack or shaving a custom set of sideburns. A little more information to go on would help us help you more.

We're actually quite a nice bunch here, and we don't go in for flaming people (well, no one we don't know), but we need to know what you want to achieve. All I know about head shaving comes from wet shaving forums, and it all seems to involve either running any old disposable over the bonce till it's done, or taking a cut throat razor to it - if you fancy the latter I can supply multiple links and good luck to you. Chiefly, we specialise in removing facial hair with either an old fashioned double edge razor like the one at the top of the page, or a straight (or "cut throat") razor. Introduce yourself as I said earlier, explain what you want to do, and we will help if we can.

Yeah, interesting you should bring him up. I was given his "autobiography" for Christmas, but felt that I was missing something not watching telly or engaging in contemporary culture and all that. Is he supposed to be funny?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I don't indulge in programmes like QI, Mock The Week, etc. People tell me I should. Clips I've seen tell me I shouldn't.

Im a head trimmer - and shaver (Summer only)

I use some cheap ass £15 Phillips trimmer, 4th one ive used since i opted for the grade 0 many Eons ago.

You know what? Trimmers are all basically the same. My first Trimmer was expensive and ive gotten cheaper each new one ive purchased.
They all do pretty much the same job, ive noticed no real difference in performance, on any of em.
Pick up something your happy paying the price for and go with it.

However - Your choice of Razor if you want to go chrome dome or just get a better facial shave? Now... thats where we really can help you.
Stick around.

If you what to go the traditional route you could get some hand trimmers. Its the Cut throat equivalent of hair trimmers. If you must go for electric trimmers Wahl seem to be good and you can get them cheap sometimes.
