It may well surprise you.Interesting that you rate it so highly. I see it is unbelievably cheap in French supermarkets, and have left it on the basis that I'd just be accumulating mediocre soaps. At 1 euro a pop, I may as well clutter up the den next time I am there.
Some great suggestions within this thread...
I pick some Monsavon every time I'm in France - an absolute steal at 1 Euro... After some trial and error, I use a big boar brush (Omega 49) and load generously...Nice scent (without overpowering) too.
For UK budget creams / soaps (available on the high street) Erasmic cream at about £1 per tube, or Ingram at around £1.75 perform very well for me, as does the Erasmic soap bowl at around £2.
Palmolive stick, or cream - legendary, and only 50 pence / £1.50 or so respectively.
The Wilkinson Sword (blue bowl) gets a hard time from some, but at £2...Bloom the puck for a few mins, (as Erasmic) and no problem - for me, at least.
Lastly, don't ignore 'Boots' own brand stuff - pick of the bunch being the 'Freshwood' soap (in a bowl) at £3.50, and the stick of the same range at £1.75. The Freshwood AS splash & balm are great too - around £3 each.
C.O. Bigelow which is rebranded Proraso. It's a $5 tube on regular sale at the local Bath and Body Works.
That's the spirit!I bought the Ingram, Erasmic and the Wilkinson Sword bowl this week. Tried them all and I'm more than happy! Perfect for a newbie and all we're better than any gel or foam in a can I used to use.

Looking forward to your SOTD posting sir.Yes, great stuff, and puts many other ££ creams to shame....Tried the NEW 'Sensitive' the other week, (white tube) excellent, as you would expect from Palmolive...Will post as a SOTD over the weekend.
You just saved me a heap of cash. It's a rarity in London, and I have seen it for about 10 pounds. I was tempted, but...There's nothing wrong with Proraso, but it can be picked up for a lot cheaper than that.
