Back story.
I had a pretty nasty vertigo attack not too long ago, one so bad I ended up on the floor of the bathroom for most of a day. At that time I realized that even had I needed help there was no way I could go the few feet literally needed to get to either the land line phone or my cell phone.
I've worn a watch though since long before I started shaving so the idea of one of the new Dick Tracy Two-Way wrist radios seemed like a great idea. I went to my cell phone carrier and found the nerddejour who was at the door playing a game on his something and definitely gave the impression that I was an unneeded imposition in his life.
I explained that I used cell phones to make calls and send text messages and need a watch that would do that. He told me about apps that would tell me what my friends were doing or eating or where I parked my car and would get HBO and Netflix and stream video and YouTube and find restaurants and ...

He said they no longer had the phone and message only plan but I could get five lines for $100.00 and a free phone to give to a friend.

He said I would need a new line that was twice what I currently paid and my current phone would not work so I would need a new phone and new line for it and if I put down a $75.00 deposit he would try to get one shipped in.
So I said thanks and went to the carrier that has an office a couple miles from my house.
They had a watch in stock and a two line plan and a nicer cell phone than my old Windows Phone and it would be $10.00 a month more than the single line at the old carrier. And it makes calls and sends and gets messages.
I did spend a week or so killing off all the other things it tried to do, like track my steps or tell me to move my butt or count calories. The new phone works connects to the new watch using bluetooth and should I forget and leave my phone at home it will forward calls to the watch that also has its own phone number. And it works. And it tells time. And it does just what I need and has stopped doing all the stuff I don't need.
The (few) times I forgot to wear a watch I totally feel naked...

Nice looking blue dial! There's something to a quarts when it's not the usual run of the mill.
