What to do with this Super-Speed…

Hello,

I’m wondering what to do with this Gillette Super-Speed, I’ve had it since the Spring and have not shaved with it once. In fact it’s been shoved deep in a drawer and I’d hoped to forget all about it. Unfortunately I came across it again a couple of weeks ago and felt like moving it from its current location to a new and more permanent one, the bin…

The problem is that I think it has been replated… and badly. Personally I’ve not got a problem with replating, I’ve got a lovely Gillette Slim that’s been replated and I knew what I was getting when I bought it.

But the plating is coming away from this Super-Speed!

So before I consign this painful bit of my shaving history to the bin I’d like to know if I’m acting too hastily, can it be saved? Is it worth being saved?

Does it need to be saved? can't you just shave with it?

My superspeed has not been replated, has no endcaps and is generally in poor condition. It's still my favourite de.

Definitely use it, a bit of flaking around the door edge isn't going to affect the shave. You might actually like it then you can decide.

As long as the doors are lining up and the blade guard is straight - shave on!!!!

If you do decide to bin it, don't. I'm sure someone would cover at least postage to give it a happy new home.

I think that may be the point of the post - can you replate a razor with shit, flaking replating?

Sure a decent replater would strip the old plating completely unless only touching up (cue Pig Cat)
