...For fewer passes, I know I'll need a more aggressive set-up...
move to electric.Hi all.
I moved to a safety razor, from Mach3, because of price and was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't only cheaper but gave a much more pleasant shave. Years into the safety razor routine, I find my satisfaction is waning, due to having to make too many passes.
I have a Merkur 38C, on a long handle and am currently using Vokshod blades. I chose this razor because it hit the middle-ground between aggressiveness and ease of use.
For fewer passes, I know I'll need a more aggressive set-up. Not willing to throw money at a variety of razors, has anyone got any experience of closer shaves?
P ;-)
I think this is about right. Trying to get a close one-pass shave with an aggressive DE or SE will end in blood, or a very mediocre shave, or both.Which will lead you right back to where you started. DE/SE is not essentially about fewer passes. It's about getting an irritation & ingrown hair free shave while theoretically saving money.
I love and heartily recommend the EJ 3ONE6 for the perfect balance of aggression vs mildness (I use 3 passes in general FWIW)
