Depends on what you were spending on cartridges and what you now spend on blades.
For me for the last year what I've
needed to spend and what I've
actually spent are two very different numbers.
What I needed to spend, if I was on the shoestring budget:
Razor (Gillette Flair Tip Rocket from a house clearance shop) : £1 (and I'll assume I switch it every year for simplicity)
Blades (125 blades at 59p/5): £14.75
Soap: £6 (one and a half cakes of MWF would do it)
Brush: £20 (and I'll assume I switch it every 4 years)
Shaving for the year will therefore cost me £26.75 (anything above that is a 'hobby' cost
- I may need the services of a consulting accountant to allocate costs correctly to the right cost centres)
Before I switched, I used to buy Mach3 cartridges in packs of 24 (£30ish) and cans of gel in a 12 pack (£6.50) - that lasted more or less 12 months but I didn't shave every day (I hated it and avoided it for as long as possible, then hated the shave itself).
So my actual shaving is costing less
and I'm enjoying it more - if it weren't for shaving we'd never have "met" - both are priceless positives, oh and sticking it up Gillette is a nice feeling too
