What are you reading at the moment?


I've not long finished Perdido Street Station, thoroughly enjoyed it. Great imagination and story but didn't quite expand on a couple of the characters like I thought it would (such as the mayor for instance). Will be trying The Scar at some point as well.

Currently reading Until they are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie. Really enjoyed the first one and this one is just as good.

I really enjoyed the first one "The Blade Itself" and started out enjoying that one but didn't finish it in the end, I got to the point where I didn't really give a toss about any of the characters, always the death knell!
 

That is always a death knell, happened to me a few times as well. See how it goes, read a few reviews on Goodreads about it that echo your comments.Third of the way through so far so fingers crossed.

I've got too many books lined up waiting to be read.

Acquainted with the Night, a book of dreams, by Nancy Price. This was published in 1949. I picked up a copy back in 1988, and never actually read it until now. Nancy Price (1880 to 1970) had a theatre and film career, having acted alongside the likes of Roddy McDowell, Petula Clark, and Nicholas Parsons in their respective early roles. Nancy Price also wrote numerous books. I thought I would add a few photographs and pictures from her book.

Just finished 'Uneasy Rider' by Mike Carter. I read his story of cycling round the UK a few weeks ago. This is his book about riding a motorbike around Europe. Very good story teller.

On recommendation of said author, I am now starting 'Pedalling to Hawaii' by Stevie Smith.
 
A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. Black holes...relative speed of light...the universe being 4 dimensional! (At least I think that is what he is talking about). I bought the book on a whim basically....telling people that it's a book that I have been meaning to read for 20 years.

I got up to book 6 or 7 and it maintains the fantasy geek fest theme, though I think I have some idea of what's going on, bits of it anyway. I keep meaning to get the next one on the list but I think I need a bit more time...

I've started the French translation of his book about the WWII, it's wonderfully written and very easy to read



Also trying to read that (I have some kind of omnibus actually) in order to improve my English language:
