What are you reading at the moment?

Have never really done a podcast so have made a note and will try the Lazarus Heist. Just had a quick look and it looks right up my street...
The Lazarus Heist is excellent. One of the best podcasts I have listened to. Geoff White one of the presenters wrote a book called Rinsed about cyber crimes. I'm sure there is a separate thread about podcats - if you like this sort of thing - check out The Rest is Classified ;)

Began the Larazus Heist last night on your recommendation. Absolutely fantastic if a little scary…

I used to be a nurse, and my wife works in haematology, so we like this. There are 16 books so far, and I'm on 9.
You don't need medical knowledge to enjoy. He reminisces about a Devon village in the 1970s where he was the doctor. Names have been changed to protect the guilty. A lot of humour, pathos and philosophy. You would also learn things, but they are light books and I didn't reach for my dictionary even once.

How fast are you reading them? You finished book 6 on Thursday, now you've finished book 7.

If i am bored I will just go at a book. It's not uncommon that a book can last a couple of days. The way the last one was set up it was heading towards a famous sea battle that only lasted 15 mins between 2 large ships with matched guns and around 700 men (book 6).
Just starting book 7

I vaguely knew the premise of George Orwells Animal Farm but I have never read it through until now. Even though it is not a novel and merely a 100 page essay it is packed to the gunnels with things as relevent today as the day it was written, and why? Well it is because it has never been as true a warning to the world as it is today. Beware, because if something looks too good to be true, it always is. If someone offers you a gift Horse, then you approach it, gently pat it on the mane, give it a Polo mint then grab it's muzzle and pry it's gob open and have a bloody good look into it's mouth. Never, Ever, trust a politician of any colour, party or persuasian. Every single politician worldwide is only for one person and it isn't you!
If you have never read it, please do so, it'll change your whole outlook on human nature in 100 pages.

I could find the button for totally bloody agree with that so replied instead.

Haven't read it since school and probably didn't appreciate or get the nuances of it. Youth wasted on the young. Think the Mrs has a copy of it somewhere. I shall dig it out...

It was intended to be a novel, in fact it is billed as a fairy story. Marxists think it is an instruction manual. It's frightening, isn't it? The horse "I'm sure they have our best interests at heart" is my wife to the tee.

It really brings home how politicians manipulate people into thinking they will be better off under their ideas and policies. We all constantly fall for it and nothing ever gets better, they promise everything, yet deliver nothing, except for themselves. The leaders are the ones who live in luxury with full bank accounts.

Please do. You'll read it a a couple of nights and it will stay with you a very long time as an adult.

Great review. Be aware if you ever get round to reading Down and Out in Paris and London you may never set foot in a restaurant again...
