Glad you enjoyed it. His band are very talented and superb live.
Only one play in (too much music, not enough time!) but enjoyed it very much. I’ve had Playland on in the car this week and love it. His band are great, I particularly love the bass tone. Bass often gets buried in the mix on albums, but on Johnny’s solo albums it cuts through nicely and is more prominent than on many records
I think he's mad at that guitar!
Love a bit of toy dolls, nelly the elephant is a belter. It was played at my dad's funeral as it was his regiments official marching tune. Could not find the original version so as a family we decided toy dolls version is better anyway.
A couple of edits due to autocomplete being a tart.
I'd like to see a James Hetfield version of that.And no wonder John Peel rated Olga the guitarist so highly......
Hahaha that is brilliant! I mean, it's an awe inspiring piece when played on an organ, but I never imagined it would work so well on "punk rock electric guitar" (to quote the Vibrators' "Sound of the suburbs")?
I can almost hear my grandma saying "turn off that awful punk racket and listen to some proper classical music."
