I think I prefer the Bourdain sandwich, but Im quite happy with either.
The grapefruit sounds odd in a sandwich, but it's red grapefruit and cuts through the salami quite nicely. Just as valid as tomato in a sandwich in my opinion. I'll definitely make it again.

Neat! I'll nestle that back into my memory and no doubt try it at some point.

Indeed, I absolutely get the sour fruit to counteract and play well with fatty or salty meats. My reference to salmon and grapefruit was not an idle comment - we frequently have smoked salmon with grapefruit. Yeah, I can see it with salami.
