The first and only time I played a Warhammer game, I won. This put me off somewhat.
More recently I played a naval battle (desktop) (big desk). I was HMS Hood and Bismarck and my friends kid was the Prinz Eugen and the Bismarck. The game is as realistic as it can be. Size of guns, what your ship is doing, whether another ship is firing on the same target all get taken into account.
Anyway, Prince of Wales lost its forward turrets early in the game. Hood tried to sneak behind the German line to divide their fire but got hit several times, lost speed and the Germans got away. I lost to a kid, but I did better than the Royal navy in real life.
We then played the battle of the river plate. I did quite well as the British to begin with copying the real life strategy. Then a few good hits blew my ships out of the water.
The trouble of desktop games is they take so long to play.
