Hi, yes you apply on to the face as a spray or splash after your shave.Witch hazel is rather uncommon in continental Europe, reason why I'm a bit lost.
What to choose for a try?
On one hand, I've seen some quite inexpensive witch hazel lotions available in most chemists/supermarkets (Boots, Sainsburry's, etc), on the other hand there are some lotions sold online specifically designed for shaving with flavours or not, hence Thayers and the likes. Beside, some are distilled whereas some others are undistilled.
How to use it?
I guess that the lotion must be applied on face like any aftershave or am I completely wrong?

Thayers is one of the best recognised ones but you can buy cheaper ones. Distilled is the one to go for as would contain more active ingredient.
The unscented one's can have a unpleasant aroma but how bad it is I don't know, I always buy Thayers from Amazon. I hope this helps.
I also use Thayers , bought my recent bottle from iherb for a good price £8 with free delivery.
I have Amazon prime so Ive always had free post, I wouldn't disregard the one's that you can buy in the chemists, you could always add essential oils of your choice to add a good scent. How did you get the free delivery?
I simulate an order on iherb and the rate for the UK was about £5.

Hello Cristobal...
As you are in the UK you can get distilled Witch Hazel cheaper than Boots. Sadly it is none existent in Norway, so when I come back to UK I always stock up.
If you have a Wilko near you..this is the cheapest I found.

Yes, there's a wilko nearby, thanks!
Another thing to be aware of is that you can purchase alcohol free witch hazel if you prefer.I'm rather sensitive to essential oil, so an oil free witch hazel is ok for me.
I use the distilled witch hazel from Sainsburys. I just splash it on direct from the bottle or decant it into a used ASL bottle.
