What should be evident from these posts is that the mid-range situation is far from clear. I'd imagine that settled conditions are more likely, but I doubt that a long (multi-week) dry period in the south as has happened over the last couple of years is anything other than a long shot, thankfully.

Had a rough night in Cornwall last night and early this morning, storm force winds, heavy rain, rivers threatening to burst their banks, trees down, power cuts.......calming down a little now. Stay safe people! P.

There's been some speculation on the Netweather forum that there may have been a Sting Jet (see post 10 in the lessons thread).
 
Further thoughts on this week from Malcolm. I'd concur with his assesssment as the models are essentially showing the same thing. Next week, however, seems likely to be stormy.
