Interesting that it says " not to wipe the blade and to leave it in the razor" have not seen that advice before on packaging. Safety reasons or something else?

Indeed I think it is.

I understand that these ones are carbon steel and uncoated so will rust, as such I tend to use them once only or if I want to keep them for a 2nd shave I pat dry on a towel and then hold it under the bathroom fan heater for a moment to make sure they are dry then replace them in the razor which i will also have dried. Hence why I usually only use them once.

While they are one of my favourites I don't tend to buy them as I find Gillette Super thins as smooth and more practical.

I used to dip uncoated carbon blades in surgical alcohol.

Hiya,

I'm always surprised at how many people like these blades.....both .experienced shavers or new guys. Tried one years ago on Michaels positive experience and gave it up after the first three downward strokes. Not a good fit for me.

I'd guess that people who like those Black Mamba blades would also enjoy the old Gillette Blue Blades that were made till the early 1960s. That's another one that didn't agree with me. Those are sorta interesting because they're all dated like the razors are, even in the years of non dated razors.

I swear, I have no idea what you guys see in this blade. Such a strange 'hobby'.

Received them today, will see how long they last before rusting, what with the Manx weather [always raining :(] and I live 100 feet from the sea front, so always a lot of moisture in the air.

I hope they "shape up" fine for you Manx Man! I have one single blade.....Please let me know how they shave before I use this singular blade! :p

Will do, I really like the Dura-Sharps, so I'm looking forward to loading one into my R101 after I've given my SP it longevity run.

Well I tried a Black Beauty in my Progress on Tuesday and it gave a stellar shave, even cranked the bugger up to 5 [mines a new Progress and supposed to be more aggressive], tried a shave this morning in my R101 and was cautious from the go, it seemed tuggy, swapped the blade into my Lord LP6 and it was ok. So they're ok for one shave [might have to hone it] and they don't like R101's [which is surprising as the Durasharp is great in the R101, but for only 2 shaves, so might have to try a fresh one in it.]. So there you have it brilliant 1st shave, meh 2nd.
