Tomato Ketchup

Mater started buying Lidl's own after being informed via word of mouth. £1.20 cheaper and just as good if not better than Heinz! My daughter is the ketchup fan and she likes it just fine. If it wasn't up to snuff, she'd kick up rough.
 
That's funny, because being an American, fish and chips is the one dish I put vinegar on. Ketchup the rest of the time. Unless there's ranch dressing available.
 
Love good ol' Heinz, have tommy k with everything from chips, to sausages to rice to pasta to Sunday roasts!! Don't know what brand the local chippy tommy k is but I slap it on and think no better!
 
Just a quick word for:

Been enjoying this in my Saturday morning sausage sandwich (with Colemans English mustard). It's dark, rich, tangy, and made in the UK

Stokes is certainly very high quality but I really don't care for it as a ketchup. I found it far too rich and cloying for chip dipping but perhaps great as a passata, needs more sugar and vinegar .
 
I've always been fine with cheap ketchup. Heinz is nice but in no way does it remind me of tomato - store bought or home grown.

More of Daddy's Brown Sauce man though.

Lidl own brand is half price this weekend at just 29p a bottle (plastic squeezy one that is)
 
I'm not really a big fan of tomato ketchup itself, therefore I like to mix it with other sauces (mayonnaise for instance). Usually, I used to eat Heinz, but there was nothing to write home about. The other day tough, I picked a jar of Bramwells at Aldi and was really pleasantly surprised; so much in fact that I googled it to know a little more about the product.

The Bramwells mayonnaise is good too, as well as Lidl's. I suspect that Lidl and Aldi have the same supplier, the recipe or some dosage in the ingredients might vary a bit, but some of their products are very very close.
