Yesterday, the Toggle that I acquired from Erwin arrived. I gave it a good soaking in bleach, and shaved for the first time with it tonite. The idea was to have this piece of rare shaving equipment, not as a collector's item, since I don't collect shaving gear, but just as a piece of curio. But, the shave was so much nicer than with my Merkur Futur, that I have decided to make it my main razor...

Sorry to be pedantic Henk but was it raw bleach? Does that not damage the finish of the razor?

Sort of. This was household bleach, which is a mixture of pure sodium hypochlorite and thickening agents.

Not the gold (?) finish but the exposed steel did start to react, so I took it out after a few minutes and rinsed it very, very well ;-)

As said, this is not meant as a collectors item but originally as curio, and now as daily razor, so the finish isn't my primary concern...

I don't have a toggle but in the end I sold my Futur because it was getting so little use, I just preferred my Gillette adjustable's.
