What about the Rockwell 6C instead of the 6S? $45 + $20 delivery and delivery is EU friendly so no additional tax or duty.Hi all, recently joined the forum, been de shaving for a few years but until now I just stuck with my EJ DE89L, the head threads got worn and in fairness to EJ they are sending me out a new one so credit to them there.
Anyway while waiting for this new head to arrive I decided to start looking around at new razors( or new to me) . The list is pretty endless as to what is available. I'd like to get something else, the 89L has served me well and will keep it. The blades I like to use are Astra's, Polsilver's, personna. I did like the 7 o clock but just haven't used them in a while. I have a few different soaps and creams that I like .
Generally I shave fine, but I find I do get red marks and bumps sometimes so using too much pressure or possibly too many passes leaves me a bit raw. I know the 89L is a mild razor so maybe need a step in razor? This would mainly occur if I have 2/3 days growth.
I know every opinion is different, what works for one doesn't work for others.
I'm open to any suggestions vintage/ new , OC , adjustable, slant. Thanks for reading
Ideally I'd like to keep it around 50 euro give or take.
Where is the 6c available for that price? What about the Rockwell 6C instead of the 6S? $45 + $20 delivery and delivery is EU friendly so no additional tax or duty.
I can also recommend the following
Fatip Piccolo, around £20 - Great razor for the price
Vintage Gillette Tech, price varies but can be got pretty cheap, try B/S/T
QShave Futur clone from Aliexpress, about £5 delivered
You could probably get all 3 of the above for less than 50 Euro.
I can also recommend a Vintage Gillette Slim (or Super Adjustable), I would try B/S/T first to see if anyone has one, you can get them on eBay or Etsy but prices vary. Beware you need to watch out as some may be a bit out of whack due to being dropped etc. so eBay can be a bit of a gamble. You should be able to get a decent one for less than 50 Euros but it could be a waiting game for the right razor at the right price, plus the effort of hunting on eBay/Etsy.
The above are all based on my own experience, all of these razors give me great shaves, my most recent acquisition is the 6C which is great razor.
You have done pretty well to keep to one DE razor for 3 1/2 years, it is a dangerous place for your wallet here, but after 3 1/2 years you deserve at least one new razor. Why do I get the feeling that having started de shaving 3 1/2 years ago and only having 1 de razor in that time that I'm going to have at least 5 by the end of the week and the 50 quid budget spent a few times over lol
That is realy a nice looking razor. I like the feature with the three different gap - head designs. Also nice that this is one of the today made razors, for which you don´t have to spend around 150 up to 200 USD or even more.
I usually lubricate the threads weekly with mineral oil. It stops wear on the threads. It is great that Edwin Jagger are replacing the head but the new threads will wear just as quickly unless lubricated.the head threads got worn and in fairness to EJ they are sending me out a new one so credit to them there

I am doubtful you will pick up a Fatboy in good condition and still stay within budget. The prices for the Fatboy have rocketed. A good slim adjustable should be within your budget though.Just had a quick look think I'd be doing extremely well to get a fat boy for 50 quid in good condition, about 80 quid plus delivery (import duty also) seems to be the going rate for a good/v good, others are like you say going for nearly 200
For info the Gunmetal finish is not as dark in real life as it is shown by Rockwell, it is darker than normal chrome finishes.
Rockwll 6C in Gunmetal Finish.... I don´t have a razor in gunmetal finish in my collection...could be my first, damn.
Thank you mate for that advice. For info the Gunmetal finish is not as dark in real life as it is shown by Rockwell, it is darker than normal chrome finishes.
my razor is shown here http://theshavingroom.co.uk/communi...ay-2017-acquisitions.43016/page-8#post-641773
