I think that we should raise our expectations. At this point, you can't find a single soap that that will not get the job done. Even those that don't lather well, like Williams, will get the job done, you will be able to shave with them, if your technique is good, the actual shave shouldn't be much more different than if you are using a better soap.
But, we take this as a hobby. We like to enjoy our shaves, we like a good performing soap, and I don't see why wouldn't we like to use top-notch products every single time.
Its being a while that i raise my expectations to be honest I haven't used my arko maybe over a year now. I agree with you if the technique is right shave result isnt to different whether u use I coloniali or arko. Then again i just love my i coloniali smell,cushion and after shave properties just top notch. Therefore i reach more often to my i coloniali,stirling,lpl,soap commander or sv soap etc.

I certainly didn't get any problems getting it to lather, I tend to use it when I don't want a scented soap to conflict with a delicate AS, it just smells neutral to me. Why pay £10+ for a unscented soap when Akro provides a good performance at £1.30 is the question to myself.
Arko and unscented cannot be put in the same category. Whenever I pull out Arko, the whole bathroom reeks and wifey beats me blue and yellow. It is heavily scented!
Before I get a barrage of replies saying "It's not unscented it smells like toilets" then thats the age old battle of my opinion against yours on a subjective point that no one can actually be correct or incorrect.

I think it all boils down to what one acquires for a neutral scent and citronella is associated by you as a neutral scent. I'm not questioning that. That is highly subjective.
But rest assured, Arko clashes monumental with any given ASJust not to your nose It has big amounts of perfume in it to give it it's classic scent.
