This morning I used a blade for the second time and it was less than satisfactory - left me with slightly rough patches either side of my Adam's Apple. Then Colin arrived and handed me a new Black Hyper-Glide razor (and new 100mm Seygus handles, he he!). After unpacking them all I couldn't resist the Hyper-Glide on those two rough patches. Ran it under the tap, ATG and all is smooth and as it should be!
Not a full test - tomorrow morning - but a highly impressive indicator!
Well, there's a thing! I wouldn't trust the Hyper-Glide on my unprepared face - you're still dragging blades across stubble, after all. I did my usual prep and shaved WTG first pass with a black Seygus on a new black Seygus 100mm handle - a dream come true of a razor now. Washed off all prep and soap so I had a wet face only and attacked with the Hyper-Glide. First off, I just stared into the mirror blankly - what am I doing? where to begin? - no lather, of course. Shaved the second pass in the manner I use for XTG and nothing appeared to be happening! But it was! Then did an 3rd pass ATG. The temptation to over-shave is hard, if not impossible, to resist! As long as you keep it wet, this razor just dances around your face - shave the hard bits over and over, no problem. One might think! This is still blades across your skin, no matter how easy - and it is easy!
It is very, very weird shaving without lather - and remembering which bits you've done is a must!
The result was a very passable BBS that I'd even risk in the bedroom at a push - but not deep cleaned BBS. I did a second ATG with the Seygus - very easy with so little to do - and ended up with an acceptable to Bechet BBS.
I might - just possibly may - have a go on an unprepared face tomorrow - preferably someone else's, just to test this razor.
For morning shavers with little time to shave before the office, this razor just has to be on your 'to try' list!
