@pjgh, what's the deal with that handle length versus plastic razor case we were talking about the other day?

The 1950s ball-ended handles come in two lengths. The cases you mention are the #25 style case (slimline bakelite) which the one for the longer of the ball-ended handles can also take a thin handle and even (some) bakelite handles. The later 1950s ball-ended Techs had shorter handles (and it's not a brass vs aluminium thing) fit a specific #25 style case while the longer handles do not - that case has extra nubs on the inside of the lid which appear to secure the contents better.
