Read an article about the changes to Imperial leather soap bars 4x90g and can see that it contains titanium dioxide, so I decided to have a look at what was out there, I bought some Palmolive hygiene plus 2x90g , better as no titanium dioxide.
But the winner was……. Lidl with Cien Pure bath soap , first ingredient- Sodium Tallowate and it’s £1.35 for 4x125g bars, I’m going to try to lather a bar later, Tallow and Glycerine, bet it works .

Sodium ... sodium ... sodium ... sodium ... it'll be frothy! Shaving soaps need some potassium for stability. Still, it's a damn good formulation for a hand soap.

Got the blinders on for Tallow, also i feel its better for the enviroment as this palm oil is getting out of hand, and they deforrest to grow it, at least tallow the animals are all being utilised for food, clothing and in this case soap.

I would imagine it is a much much larger concentrated quantity used and ingested, as I simply refuse to believe a group of exceptionally clean pigs or whatever washed in Imperial lather everyday died of lung cancer.
 
I think going outside would have a worse effect on the respiratory system ...

It is good to consider this stuff, especially with something that you might use routinely as the dose can make the poison. Notice the EU made a complete ban on Tetrasodium Pentetate recently, requiring practically all soap to reformulate. Well, the new item we're seeing is Tetrasodium Iminodisuccinate, which is probably the same thing in reality but a minor chemical tweak which puts it a step ahead of the directive.

... but yes, we're not eating this stuff. That, and we're shaving (dermplaning) the contact area. Gotta take some risks in life, eh?

Tallow is an interesting one because we're seeing many cosmetics moving away from tallow and back to palm. Sustainable is the word. Thing is, it's kinda not sustainable but the threshold for acceptable environmental damage has been defined and that's being called sustainable. No, back to tallow. It's being used predominantly now in aircraft fuel, which I would imagine is an even greater demand than cosmetics globally. Use of tallow-based fuel appeases requirements for lowering use of fossil-based fuel. Knock-on effect is no tallow for the cosmetics industry, so better go lop down some (palm) trees!

Of course , it’s a mine field, you never know what’s being pushed and the effects, and we all have a time line .
Just fed up with big company’s agenda , they used to run cigarette adverts as the product to help chest conditions .
I’m finding less ingredients and more natural the better, maybe it’s just me but I tend to find tallow based soaps superior.
 
I like Mitchell's Wool Fat soaps for tallow but lately I have been using Aleppo soap and you might find it an interesting contender for your needs, all natural and is great for the psoriasis patches on my face.

I hear you!

Problem is, products are products are products ... they're manufactured.

Trick is to find genuine bathtub soap makers, or as close to that as possible. Etsy is full of melt and pour passed off as home-made. Straight off the top of my head, there's Signature (Brian, who posts on here) and Tantra? Hampshire Wool Fat (Dr Ratna) ... both of whom have shaving and bathing soaps, and other products within their repertoire.

Mitchell's certainly make some lovely soaps, but they're most definitely NOT a back room production out of that little house in Wibsey - their products will be made by all manner of factories under contract. Their hand soap is indeed lovely, as is their shaving soap (which is now not tallow but there are countless threads on that). As per other chatter - do consider Aleppo soap.
