Straight Razor Shave of the Day

Razor Joseph Rodgers 5/8
I missed using a straight razor very much. I'm glad I brought this razor on my work travel as a standby. Today, have more time, so able to enjoy the SR. This razor went through the full diamond pasted balsa progression and is definitely crispier...while remaining smooth & comfortable. 3 enjoyable passes for a bbs-ccs finish...

Razor Titan ACRM-2 Madagascan Mahogany Timber Scales
This is a razor exchange with kind generosity all the way from Australia. Fortunately, my relatives from Sydney came for a visit so shipping was easy. This razor has a coticule's edge. Although it was comfortable it was not sharp enough for my tough whiskers...Managed a sas result in 3 passes...

How do you use the ADaee? I got one, and I haven't really managed to get a 'finish' with it. I normally use it for a few passes after my Norton 8K and before I get to the 3um film...

Heavy Weaponry today, 3 days growth. I have a hard beard, so that's a bit of a challenge for a razor. This worked very well, I re-stropped after the first pass, I could already feel the edge going by the end of that pass!
Worked very nicely tho, definitely do the job very well.

Beginning with a homemade pre-shave oil and a hot towel, a nice lather whipped up in a shaving scuttle. After three passes with the Hoffritz straight razor, cleanup was done with a Parker Semi-slant loaded with a Gillette Nacet. BBS is here! Homemade lime aftershave and another hot towel. Lotion and cologne were applied for final comfort. A good night's rest is ahead!

Fri 3 SR Comparison Shave
Razor 1 Dorko 43 Near Wedge
Razor 2 Titan ACRM-2 African Timber Scale
Today's shave was to compare one of my top SRs with a buttery smooth edge with this Titan after putting it through the LaLune & the full diamond balsa progression. Both were strop on the Kanayama. Dorko (easily passes the HHT) was on the left & Titan (absolutely failed TTT/HHT) was on the right. 3passes and Dorko did not fail...super nice and efficient but the surprise was the Titan...it did very well, and the edge was very comfortable and more efficient than the initial use. Overall, Dorko's result was bbs-ccs while Titan's was dfs-sas. Some red creeper and minor irritation on the left...hahaha. Delightful comparison...

Dovo Master's today. I don't use it a lot -- it's my only 'modern mass produced' razor. It used to be rotten (bad geometry from factory) but I fixed it and it's now a lovely shave; it's just that I have more interesting vintage OR custom ones so this one doesn't get a lot of shave time...

Thanks for asking. I don't have the Adaee stone but rather the razor was finished on the Adaee in Australia by another forum member and received by me via some visiting relatives. Together with the razors, I also received a Hard Black Arkansas...will be fun in the next few weeks...

Razor P Hospital Le Grelot Thiers
The challenge these next few days is to be able to SR shave daily while working on the road...
Today's shave was enjoyable with this razor. The edge, freshly stropped on a smallish travel 0.1um diamond balsa & Kanayama leather was smooth and crisp. 3passes for a bbs-ccs finish...nice!

Pegasus 8/8" 1/2 today -- that new soap I got around xmas is pretty awesome too, smells fantastic!
All the razors have now got the 'standard' edge -- 3um, 1um film, chrome oxide leather strop, plus my 'slick' leather strop, I'm really happy as all the edges are just "next level"!

Nice shave, have spent the last two days refurbishing two Wade and Butcher blades, used both on this shave. It would be a difficult task for me to say which I liked better. The square point (circa 1830-1845)I would have to say gave a closer shave but the Barbers point blade (circa 1850-1860) was more comfortable and just as close. Both razors were bought with the intention of refurbishing and reselling, definitely looking at keeping both.
