Storing my shaving junk !

My shaving junk has had lots of babies and the only place it will go is the dining room so I got one big wide steel rack built and seven 12 litre boxes for that shelving unit.

I got a little black plastic rack but it's a useless toy and can't handle 7 dopp bags chocka full of frags and shaving travel kits.

So...got another rack coming Friday that is studier metal and once built, it should clear my dining room side wall pile of shaving junk and get the rubbish off the dining room table and finally clear it - hopefully I won't need any more plastic boxes to stack on top of the racks.

It's my fault for overdoing it - but then, at least it'll be a lot tidier lol !

The total shelving area will be approx - 7 foot wide by 7.5 foot tall by just over a foot deep - I've totally run out of space everywhere - even the bathroom is chocka and there's not much space for the Dragon's make-up, cosmetics and toiletries - she has a lot of them in the bedroom drawer and in a big suitcase - now it can go on that black rack above because it's not too heavy haha !

Has anybody else had to buy extra drawers, boxes and shelves because their collection overflowed a bit haha ?

Here's the better metal rack; it's a bit delayed 'till Monday ; It'll have to do !

One thing though ; it's ten times better than having loads of disparate cardboard boxes stacked precariously in the corner; it looks terrible and if I want to get to something I have to dig through loads of layers of junk; then put them back the same way or they won't fit; it's a right drag !

I changed the way i do it but i have to say yours is impressive & super tidy but i couldn’t be bothered rummaging through it to find what i want.
I had all mine in storage drawers in a build in cupboard in a spare bedroom which was ideal as i knew exactly what was in every drawer with every being categorised but that recently changed.
i bought a new bed with storage underneath and now just about everything is under there and now stored in clear boxes.
Again everything is categorised so i know what’s in each box.
Slightly more hassle than it was before but im now taking up no room in the house.
it’s amazing how large the storage is under a bed
 
I do have good shelving in my outside garden hut and was thinking about putting everything out there except my aftershaves & balms.
My thinking was i would bring one weeks shave in to the house and do it that way or monthly even but the storage bed seems to fill my needs
 
I have a one square foot - 3 drawer chest of drawers which was fine at first until I got more razors and blades - I've stopped counting everything !

The four black zipped pouches on the top left drawer have a few razors in each.

Unfortunately this is not all of them.

I haven't got many brushes because I usually just face lather with a good soap like 70% Laurel Savon d' Alep, 72%-100% Olive oil Castile or Marseille or my favourites; Organic Omani Royal Green Frankincense and Goat's Milk, Organic Oud and Goat's Milk.

There are collectors who acquire stuff they can never hope to use, enthusiasts that like a bit or variety and are searching for better tools to shave with, and a few deranged individuals who feel that a single razor, brush and soap is all they ever need.

I'd put myself in the enthusiast camp. I've got 2 razors, 3 brushes, 4 soaps or creams, half a dozen mixed tucks of blades, a couple of balms and moisturisers, and 5 or 6 aftershaves and fragrances used on a regular basis to hand. My alternative kit comprising other razors, blades etc. can pretty much be fitted in a large shoe box which is easy to store and access. I reckon I could manage for about 5 years without buying a single shaving related item, however I'll replace stuff that runs out or move on old kit if something new takes my fancy.

It can be nice to have a change but I can't see the point in hanging on to stuff that is not as good as my favoured combinations - it just takes up space if I don't use it, and I'm always wishing I was using something else if I do.

The more you have the more difficult it is to decide what to use lol
 
I had an impromptu get together tonight so that's why I've got a late response.

However, the narrow metal rack arrived early so will be jumping on it soon deffo because I'm sick of the chaos.

I've got a 12 point - 13mm socket and a bolt-extractor set coming before dinner so I can finally crack on !

20 months ago I had nothing - that's forums, addictions and retail therapy for you !

I didn't mean to do nearly 37 large in on shaving junk ; but cheaper than my occasional £700 a month Stolichnaya habit lol !

I wish I was joking - I'm Russian.

Last night I cracked on and built the wooden narrow black shelf unit.

Got the two sets downstairs and the big one is a bit wonky to one side ; but I don't care ; it lends it character and it's much better than a pile of boxes in the corner.

I just bent the big rack straight ; it was bugging me !

I haven't got the space or funds for a better solution yet (like shaving stuff only) storage; so it'll have to do for now.

The bottom shelf has a Makita drill, karaoke machine, a folding table and files - nevermind !

Got a new tablecloth coming next week ; well a thick black 250 gsm tarpaulin actually because I hammer my tables haha !

I'd love to get a solid wood bespoke wardrobe eventually for all the junk but I'll probably be dead before then lol !
