FWIW, an American soap maker told me that not all non-tallow soaps are indeed vegan. I am not a chemist, but he said it had something to do with the sourcing of the stearic acid as some is animal based & some plant derived if I recall correctly. Someone please correct me if wrong.

Indeed, you're right. It's just the way marketing heads at Speick decided to label their products. No idea if the products are genuinely vegan.

I imagine it is, for a start the new shaving stick is labelled Vegan on the packaging.

With EU regulations I imagine a corporation like Speick would take them seriously.
