Result - great - a learning experience.
Shaving two days in a row - to be honest after the stellar first use of the Rockwell I really didn't need to shave. Still visually clean shaven - I had to rub my fingers against the grain to detect any regrowth - but I couldn't resist it. Also, me and my other-half were going out to see an exhibition and a couple of drinks after - I needed to look and smell my best - she is always immaculately turned out - I wanted to reduce the probability that any casual observer would assume she was my carer or social worker. I should really buy some clothes not made by Rohan - that would help too. So - anyway - I debated using a less aggressive plate in the Rockwell - drop down to 3 if not 2 - given how little beard there was to shave. I should have. I left my face feeling a wee bit 'raw' for a while. No rash or anything visible but I could feel it. My fault - user error. I should have trusted my instinct. I'll know the next time - either way the razor is a keeper for sure. A lovely bit of kit. To paraphrase the British Prime Minster Harold McMillan - 'we've never had it so good,' with value for money brushes at the moment - be they badger, synth or whatever. Maseto obviously - I own three. Interested to read of the Yaqui two-bands. I'd put the Stirling two-band I used yesterday in the same category. Superb short fan knot and a big chunky M7 type butterscotch handle. Hasn't lost a hair in two years of use. I don't know if you can still get them. A brush - for me - never far from the top of the rotation. If you face lather - try one if you can. The poodle's privates. Job done - and something learned from the shave - as it should be - enjoy yours one and all - I.
Oh - the exhibition we went to see was 'The Journey - the Arrival,' photographs by five Greek news photographers about the experiences of Syrians escaping their country and getting to Europe to start life again. Superb - proper old-school photojournalism. Engaged, passionate, humanitarian, angry - and as one of the snappers pointed out in his text - 'because of my pictures - no one can claim that they didn't know that this was going on.' By turn distressing and uplifting. I think that it's a traveling exhibition - so if it comes to a town near you - and this is your sort of thing - I couldn't recommend it too highly.
