Friday - had to go to a funeral - thankfully my beard growth allows me to shave the night before and still look fine the next morning. Great - avoid the anxiety of drawing blood - when it matters that you don't do that. I only own one suit - but it was an expensive one - you don't want to be dripping claret on it. Job done. Saturday - much more relaxed - the Lavanda cream - is possibly my favourite lavender scent - nice and spicy - medicinal. Slickness way beyond the price point. Worth a go - if you like that sort of thing. I smeared a bit of it into the knot of the damp Semogue brush - lather abounding! I don't use this brush that often - but it has a nostalgic air for me - my first silvertip. When I decided that - perhaps 9 or 10 years ago - that 'proper' shaving was for me - moving on from crap starter gear - I ordered it and the Semogue 1305 boar - both still in use. The HD bit in the name means - high density - faintly ridiculous compared to some of the knots I have bought subsequently - but I still love it. If you are in the mood for a wall of super soft floppy badger - this is the one.
Talking of nostalgia -
'which was followed up with an excellent beer drinking session in Ma Cameron's and the Prince of Wales'
@Ferry-shave - C. - I'm delighted to learn that these pubs still exist. I spent many a happy night in both of them. What news of the Lemon Tree? At the time my best friend went to study in Aberdeen - I used to go up and see him - years ago - realistically about thirty years ago - I'd hitch hike up from Glasgow - saving valuable money on the bus ticket to be spent on beer. My favourite pub in those days was the Blue Lamp - does it still exist?
Happy shaving yours all - I.
Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: M&F Brad Sears L7 Tigris Finest Badger
Soap: Stirling Lemon Chill
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Vintage NOS Wilkie Light Brigade (4)
Post: Thursday Plantation Tea Tree & Witch Hazel
Scent: APR Festivus P&C 2018 LE Splash
Pre Paste & Cut Perth Meet-up shave.
Lovely cooling mentholated lather from the Stirling soap. I am falling back in love with my AS-D2 - it is such a precise instrument, and with a sharp blade like the Light Brigade makes shaving so simple.
Three super-comfortable passes for a DFS+.
But no doubt, the star of the show was the APR Limited Edition P&C Festivus Splash. Made for the warm festive season in the Southern Hemisphere, and simply glorious! And the citrus notes matched the soap nicely.
My Mrs doesn't like it either Tom. ‘Old sweaty socks' is how she chooses to describe the scent. She also says that as I seem to be happy walking around smelling like that, she is 100% confident that I'm not having an affair. Charming!
