Good two day shave – lathering in the tub and on the face – no prob with the Wilkinson soap, another cheap one, but reliable. Feather blade for that extra close shave!

Prep: Aldi Bath Soap & Nuage Shave Oil
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26mm
Razor: MÜHLE R89
Blade: Feather Hi Stainless Japan
Soap: Wilkinson blue tub
After: Cold Water Splash - Ajanta Alum – Autograph ASB

Just finished this evening's shave...not a cream this time but a soap...
  • Pre-shave with warm water and Ach Brito Glyce soap
  • Stirling Soap Co. Wintergreen Glacial
  • Face lathered with Yaqi Cashmere 24mm
  • EJ89, Gillette Nacet (4th maybe 5th shave now?) on Razorock Titanium
  • Cold rinse/Alum rub/cold rinse
  • Stirling Soap Co Wintergreen Glacial Witch Hazel and Aloe


Well this soap is definitely one for those who need help waking up in the morning or want to cool off on an extremely hot day. Even after priming this with hot water for several minutes, I found myself using quite a bit of additional water to thin the soap out to lather nicely. It seemed a little thick on the brush and the face; however, it did provide a nice lubrication and I really felt the zing of the menthol throughout the process. Two passes and a very slight follow up on the jaw...job done.
I used the witch hazel and aloe splash afterwards...not as much of a zing from that as I expected but maybe my face had just been numbed into hyperthermia by then. Quite a pleasant face feel now...after about 20 minutes...I'm considering a post shave balm and Proraso Green seems appropriate. I like this soap but I reckon I'll be using it sparingly, so this pot should last a while.

I have the Reef Point Tiki and have to admit it is very much an acquired scent with its heavy leather overtones but a great soap. Reading all this will see me use it in the near future as it doesn't see enough face time and I need reminding, 'Use me'.
