A very enjoyable read indeed. And so my theme for this evening was 'A Premier Shave'
Timeless with the usual Polsilver on board
Muhle synthetic
Gentlemam's Tonic cream
L'Occitane Cade balm
This week I find myself living a life of luxury in the hands of Premier Inns being as I am taking some training away from my usual place of work. Apparently they do guarantee me a great night's sleep so there is something to look forward to. It says so on the bed.
At least I can say (without a bed interrupting and having a second opinion) I have certainly enjoyed a Premier Shave with a premier razor, a premier blade, a premier cream, a premier balm and a brush which would be more at home in a shoe polishing kit.
May be I am getting to understand this brush thing slowlyas this particular one is far too dense for my liking. The Muhle synthetic silver tip leaves it standing. However it applied cream to my face in a kind of manner; so job done. And cleaned my shoes with it afterwards.
After a long drive and a long day a nice premier end to it all. Now I can have my guaranteed great sleep (Did I mention it says so on the bed?) knowing I at least I have a face like a baby's bum
Have a premier evening all
Sotd - Monday 23/4/18
Razor - Mergress (1.5)
blade - Polsilver SI (3)
brush - Chubby 1 best
soap - Wickham Soap Smooth - 'Imperial Trevor'
post - witch hazel
a/s - Old Spice modern
balm - BBA.
Result - a nice evening shave.
Shaving off - not sure - four or five day's growth. A lot more than has been the norm recently - I had been doing well - shaving more often but I have been a bit under the weather - not really getting it together. Which is the opposite of what is required - time spent shaving always helps me feel more like the thing. I ration the use of my tub of the old formula Wickham - I was fortunate to get no.13 from a run of 20 - I'm not sure if the scent has made it into the modern versions? The performance is top end in use, looks a bit odd granted but the way it smells - essentially a dead ringer for Imperial Leather bath soap - is a strong memory trigger for me - I'm instantly transported back to the Sunday night bath - before school on Monday. As with the Old Spice after shave - that was the smell of my maternal grandfather - who I was close to. He died in the late nineteen eighties but never gave up proper shaving - he was always immaculate in his appearance - I know now - Gillette Tech, Wilkinson Sword blades, Palmolive stick, badger brush and Old Spice. Still using the Mergress in comparison to the Rockwell - half way through the experiment - one thing that the 6C has taught me is choosing a level of aggressiveness appropriate to the job. I left the Merkur on 1.5 despite having a fairly healthy regrowth to be dealt with - the razor was effortless in taking it off. In the past I have kind of gone for the 'Spinal Tap' approach with adjustables - 'this one goes up to eleven,' - must be a better shave? Nope. The result tonight was a shade less comfortable than the Rockwell - but only just. At the half way point in the experiment - I suspect the 6C will just edge it in the comfort stakes but the Mergress is nicer in the hand and prettier. We'll see - it'll be head to head. Job done - enjoy your shaves gentlemen - yours - I.
