The good bit -
Six days growth coming off - a long overdue shave. The Black Beer soap is perfect for a dark dreich Scottish day - it is strangely uplifting - which I assume is down to the large amount of rosemary oil in the formula. Dark, spicy and medicinal - lovely. It - in my opinion - pairs beautifully with the Myrsol Balsamica - continuing the herbal vibe. Ditto the Weleda balm - I'm not super keen on the scent - but that is not really what it is for - you can't argue with the skin feel though. Topped off with the Caldey Island lavender - a lovely masculine lavender/musk - my only wish was it projected a bit better and lasted longer.
The not so good bit -
I need to keep the dressing on my damaged thumb dry - so had to wash and shave wearing one latex glove. At best - an unpleasant experience - at worst - deeply sinister looking - as if you are planning a game of 'junior customs officer' - getting medieval on some poor unfortunate Colombian drug mule. Not nice. It also reminded me - how important the tactile element of a shave is - I realised that I constantly check progress with my left hand for any remaining stubble - which you cannot feel through a glove. Rinsing your face and applying aftershave with one 'plastic' hand is horrible. I got there in the end - it'll teach me to pay attention in the future using razor sharp kitchen knives.
I hope all your shaves are significantly better - one and all - yours - I.
I have the same razor....and if I use the original handle....I find I need Feather SuperPro Blades for the performance I require!I'm happy to admit that it is undoubtedly my technique (I'm only on my 2nd SE shave) but I'm also questioning the weight of the razor. However...I'll keep going until this blade has run its course, and maybe, just maybe, I'll think about trying a heavier handle to see if it makes any difference.
No shave today then?
Yes, in average with 20 shavings with a lamina schick SE, lamina excellent. Great Razor21 shaves? Is this normal for a Schick blade? Remarkable return on investment
