23/7/20

Razor - Gillette Ball End Tech
Blade - Treet Durasharp Yellow (2)
Soap - Palmolive Menthol Cream
Brush - Yaqi Rainbow
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - Nivea Cooling Kick
AS - Indian Old Spice

I generally try to shave every day, the ritual of a wet shave is beneficial for my state of mind, but I'd had a few rough days and it's my first shave since Monday, but feels like it was a lot more than that. I'm not sure the razor & blade combination was a good one for 3 days of growth, it felt like it was struggling a bit but managed to get reasonable results in 2.5 passes. Decided to treat myself to using the Indian Old Spice splash, not a treat for cost but more as it's not a scent I can manage enthusiasm for on a regular basis, in occasional uses it's fine though.

Anyway gents, have a good day.

I really liked Le Pere Lucien 'Traditional' AS when I tried it a few days back so I thought I'd give the shave soap a go too...

This afternoon's shave:
  • Ach Brito Glyce Classic soap pre-wash
  • Le Pere Lucien Traditional shaving soap
  • Semogue Pharos-C3 21mm Synth brush
  • Nacet blade in EJ89 on Timeless Titanium
  • Cold water/Alum rub
  • Le Pere Lucien Traditional AS
  • Ach Brito Lavanda cologne

Tomorrow I shall mostly be trying TOBS Royal Forest shaving soap!

Happy shaving days all

Amen! In addition to that, I find it's really important to use the 'right' set up, an aggressive razor might be great for the needs of some but won't be for others. You're right about trying to judge a blade after a shave not being the best way to see how good it is, my favourite blades seem to be the ones which perform the best after a few shaves.

I think I read SeanC on ATG saying that he really rates the Dorco Prime Platinum, and that guy really knows his blades. Pleased you liked the Lancet SP though, I found it to be a really pleasant surprise. I'd be intrigued in what you think of the Tiger Platinum. I found it didn't really perform that well in my milder razors, but worked well in my slightly more aggressive razors.

The Dorco Prime Platinum are exceptionally good..

Good evening, I hope you're all well.

Hot Shower with Mr Rugged Face soap
Barts Lavender ASL as a Pre
Parker 22R
Astra SP #7
Omega Boar
Signature Soaps Condate
Osma Alum Block
Barts Balm Amber and Jasmine

Nice Shave this evening. Excellent soap, residual slickness is unreal. Hardly any stinging after a rub down with the Alum block.

Stay safe everyone and keep smiling.

Thank you, it's good to hear that. Take care, Regards Brian

Happy Thursday all! One day past mid-week yet not close enough to Friday and the weekend for my liking! Oh well angst aside we press on!

I am a fan of what have been called “aggressive” razors and own a few...Blackland Dart, Timeless Bronze OC .78, Muhle R41 and the iKon Standard/Tech to name a few. I love them for what they are, keen destroyers of stubble. However, with a nice blade, a simple Gillette Tech can get it done no muss and no fuss. So today, I decided to reach for said razor(s) as I have a few. This one was gifted to me from a friend down in Texas who I started my wet shaving journey with and have quite a few of his razors in my collection. A true gentleman and a knowledgeable proponent of the wet shaving world. This one dates to 1938-45 complete with triangular slots in the base plate and the like. Loaded up with a fresh GSB.

Today's soap RazoRock Nomad which is a lovely mix of creamy woods, spices and musk. Quite nice really though not what you would call a summer scent. I love to grab it whenever because the scent is really In my wheelhouse.

Three passes with a little buffing and BBS achieved. Always amazed at how well a simple Tech can mow it down. I will be going on a run of Techs. Topped it off with the matching AS and some B&BW Noir which is a great match. Take care folks and enjoy your shaves.
