Hi all,
I had a great shave this morning with a classic Gillette whether you like it or not the Slim adjustable is an iconic razor.
Following immediately after it’s more famous older cousin the $1.95/Fatboy adjustable.

As far as I can tell on close inspection the adjustable head is the same on both models. (My opinion only)
Although the plating is of better quality on the $1.95/Fatboy.
As far as which one I prefer shave wise.
I would pick the slim purely because the longer handle is a bit easier for me to manoeuvre.

The razor on setting seven worked very well with the Wizamet blade.
Like all adjustable razors , the settings are up to the individual to work out what suits them best.

One pass WTG/ATG with a couple of touchups.
No nicks no worries.

Finished off nicely with the classic 4711 aftershave splash.

Cheers.

I wouldn't call either of these hard soaps like the pucks of, say Floris or DR Harris. You can poke your finger straight through to base with these sorta soaps ... hence "croap" but distinct from creams which are indeed practically liquid. You can also tell by the pattern that these are simply poured rather than milled, set and pressed.
Agreed, I am going to buy a fresh tub to confirm as mine just does not match everyone else's experience.
It gets such great reviews but the tub I have presently is awful and I suspect it's just aged badly, I didn't get it from new so could be 200 years old for all I know ha ha.
Thanks everyone for their input and I will update later.

Claymore Evolution V1
Feather Pro ( 2 )
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

Wanted a nice Shave today, as off to Dentist.Picked the right combo as the feather pro blade on its second outing was so smooth, and I had no problems getting a nice close all round finish.

the hot weather spell has finally broken and the heavens have opened up with buckets of rain instead. not the closest of shaves again but very comfortable. this is a mild razor done right. very light titanium and the long blade pins line the blade up perfectly.

I need to use this soap a bit more to get an idea if I like it. it's not a strong scent and I'm not sure what notes I'm getting from it. I need to use more product too. the a&e cream was much more concentrated. the lather was fine and not watery but it wasn't thick and dense and protective either. more runny yoghurt consistency but it didn't dissipate. might have struggled with a more aggressive shave.

used this set up again with a fresh blade and same result, not that close but comfortable. I scooped out so much of the soap into a bowl and still couldn't get as good lather as I'd like. the scent is also kind of meh. not unpleasant but not that remarkable either. glad I got to try it and it's fine to use but I wouldn't order a full tub.

I think i've come to the same conclusion with Ariana & Evans. I get good performance and perfectly good shaves & post shave is good but overall I am not blown away. I am glad i bought some but unlikely to buy again when bowls are finished. I maybe need to try some other US artisans, but personally I feel A&E lags well behind UK and Italian soaps/croaps.

interestingly, the cream was much better and actually more concentrated / needed less product.

The original Scottish made Claymore performed flawlessly today, yes, its a heavy beastie but it don't half shave well.
3 passes for an easy, comfortable, BBS result.
The Signature soap and splash also added much to the enjoyment of the shave, i find @BrianH's splashes really nourish my aging fizzog.
Enjoy your day all.
