Shaving.. to be enjoyed, not endured.

Pre - Pears Transparent Original
Brush - Simpson Duke 2 Best Badger
Soap - Stirling Soap co. Stirling Spice
Razor - Gillette Slim Adjustable H3 "Travel set"
Blade - Personna Med Prep
Post - Cold water Rinse
Balm - Tonyschin's Cedarwood & Patchouli Balm

The Slim set to #4 then #5 and 5 for a very comfortable 3 pass shave. I truly believe they hit the mark on improving the Fatboy with this great razor.
Enjoy your day all.

Tuesday 4 February

Le Coq, now there’s a name to conjure with. Of course it’s French, et naturellement le boîtier est bleu. Probably around 1920 and similar to the GEM hoe of that time. This originally took a single edge wedge blade that could be sharpened and honed. However, the ubiquitous GEM blade works perfectly without modification. The cock is quite heavy,……ok guys, stop giggling at the back! It’s brass with a really thick chrome coating. It can feel quite aggressive although only in the sense that the weight and a narrow shave angle means you have to work these two aspects with care. I’m sure more regular daily use would improve matters but then that’s not going to happen here given my largish collection of usable razors :ROFLMAO:
The soap is a disappointment, a wet sloppy lather that didn’t last. The bin awaits its rejection.

Enjoy the day fellas!

Another blade kindly gifted to me by @OrangeSport.
I've used this blade in the past but remember finding it a bit rough. Either the blade has changed or the razor has as I got a very smooth shave that was pretty close in most areas. The first pass was particularly impressive as it got through stubble very easily.

I keep intending to rotate the Scottish Fine and Wilky shave stick in my Fat February routine but find I'm drawn back to the Hampshire each time. I'm also close to finishing it so would like to cross it off my inventory. I still have versions 2 and 3 to try and will eventually buy version 4.

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Razor: Wilkinson Sword Sticky

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: H.L. Thäter 2-band Olive Wood Silvertip Badger
Soap: Saponificio Bignoli Agrumi Del Mediterraneo
Razor: Gillette Diplomat
Blade: Personna Red (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Santa Maria Novella Colonia Russa After Shave Lotion
Scent: Acqua di Parma Colonia EdC

Barber's Saloon Soap
Omega S10081
Asylum Injector
KAI F37-9S

This blade is not meant for the Asylum, it does not have the same cut outs as Personna or Schick blades. Passable shave even though you have to manually align the blade, a bit of tugging though, much more than with a Personna or Schick B-20. The Rose scented soap is nice, mild scent, good lather. Made in Germany, hard soap, standard stearate & cocoate formula.

Alum

Wanted to test the blades I’d found. 1st pass WTG an excellent job on the cheeks and sides of my face but on inspection had cleared v little on my chin. 2nd pass ATG - a better job and pretty pleased with the result as only troublesome areas along jawline and small patches on neck under chin were left, but could already feel the blade getting dull. Touch ups removed last bits and overall a good result, but… blade was completely spent by the end after 1st use & when I put alum on, my whole face burned. Still burns all over, 5 mins after post shave. Interested to hear if anyone else has used this blade.

Apache are a Chinese brand. They had clones of Personna cart razors. I wonder if they are made under licence rather than repackaged. Is there a country of origin?
