Menthol Monday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Eskimo Tuxedo Shave Soap
Jayaruh #217 Synthetic
AliExpress Classic Adjustable DE
Gillette Silver Blue
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Mennen Skin Bracer AS

The Eskimo Tuxedo Shave Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #217 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AliExpress Classic Adjustable razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Mennen Skin Brace After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
I almost got this Model off Amazon or AliExpress last year when looking for adjustable models. I did not get the model you are using as I was looking for adjustable in the butterfly style, almost going for G.B.S Gents adjustable model in butterfly before deciding on the a Gillette Adjustable because of the low quality control on all models that were not the Rockwell T2 that was $135 now $145 and climbing in price model. Only other model with better quantity control is the Viking Shave Emperor series where the smooth comb and the deeper closed comb cause the deeper comb to be 1 dial higher for most people and I did not want to have to think about the shaver being an issue.

My shaver a Micro Touch One from 2017 new in store that is actually a pre Rick Harris endorsed model was dying in 2024--2025 so I was starting to look for a model. I wanted an adjustable model that was lower cost not $100+ maybe $60--$70 at most. My model of shaver locked up but only able to get undone so I found an in good shape model of Gillette Adjustable 1960's era for $32.87 and finding out I like the model, I got a backup with case for $36.87 and a good deal on the second one because of a mistake in manufacturing where the model has the date code hard to read as it is either an L or I and has II on the other side as if it got double stamped as the Logo for Gillette is saying no. I still have the Micro Touch One for air travel should I ever need to travel like this again in a cheap case I got on sale for $1.09 that came with a number 2 HTTPE all plastic butterfly shaver I tossed in recycling and came with some FEYIU blades I tested one blade getting 4--5 shaves when one blade ripped a hair out so I stopped in one single pass during shave 6 when normally I get 35 shaves from a Personna Made in USA blade.

3:30--3:432 pm

Today's shave before the shower was an 9/10.
I used dial 2 to get done going over, getting a BBS with a 2 micro mini cuts on my neck different and 2 on the jawline with a single chin cut where I know finding out it was dial 2 was the issue, but starting with dial 1 was not enough to do work it was not cutting on this. Good news the shower fixed the issue of the mini scabs and the 2 micro single dots on the neck. After shower when I did touch up work without shaving cream keeping on dial 2 no cuts. Today was Personna USA 100 pack from 2017, day 6 topside. I do flip the blade over around 14--16 and count the flipped side amount with also a total overall.

I use, as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable 1960's era shaver, my model without the case.

I used Arko in the Harvey & Cavendish tin with the cheap Asian Bush and every time the brush had hairs falling out lost about 10--15 more hair after the previous losses of about 10--15, 20--25, 15--20, and finally 40--50 in order from day one. I think the one of the cuts was due to a bush hair. I did have to put more on the moustache as the soap just got soaked up due to the dry air in winter. I did an 80% clean just before doing the moustache and then did final cleanup after the shower touchup on one part.

I think I will be shaving before the shower each day.

The Arko shaving cream with the bush seems to be helping the shave. I am no longer concerned about hair loss as I am having less and less of the hairs falling out during use now where the first big part was just the break in with hair loss due to being so cheap.
I just hope I did not go too cheap but if I did, I would buy one of the synthetic brush travel shavers with the same unpainted anodized Aluminum in the same size as one I have that cost is a bit more, then keep all the spare parts from original as backup except for the brush part.

Those in the USA looking for a cheap travel brush that uses Boar/ unbleached most likely domestic boar they do not need to worry about the loss of during travel. They might have the same Brush on Your Countries Amazon that is like this.

Today's shave before the shower was an 9/10.
I used dial 2 with only 3 micro cuts on the chine due to snagging. Today was Personna USA 100 pack from 2017, day 7 topside. I do flip the blade over around 14--16 and count the flipped side amount with also a total overall.

I use, as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable 1960's era shaver, my model without the case. I realized last time I forgot to do after a new blade putting on lubrication to the hinges, so I used my usual butter, yes that is right edible butter on the hinges as I like using that due to how the shaver feels.

I used Arko in the Harvey & Cavendish tin with the cheap Asian Bush and every time the brush had hairs falling out lost about 10--15 more hair this time only short or thin wires only after the previous losses of about 10--15, 10--15, 20--25, 15--20, and finally 40--50 in order from day one. I did have to put more of the Arko cream on the moustache as the soap just got soaked up due to the dry air in winter when I went to go do that part of the face and it soaked up right away because I go thinner than probably most people even with Arko and a bush. I did an 70% clean just before doing the moustache and some touchup on chin where I cut myself and then did final cleanup later.

I Bet those are the same blade factory the Chinese made King C Gillette are from. I would bet the better top end are for the King C Gillette while the Super Blue are just the good blades or maybe I have that the wrong way around given the factory is in China so maybe they keep the top end.

I do know they lightly laser on the logo to the King C Gillette or did when I stopped buying those blades in 2024. Now from what I am told the newest King C Gillette are like the early King C Gillette from 2020--2021 I have from Brazil that have a BZ on. I still have 6--7 of those older King C Gillette left and were the best I have ever used until I got more Personna Made in USA 100 pack as the blades without logo are better than the older logo Personna 100 pack for me, however the older Personna made in USA 100 pack blades I can see got in late 2017 still work fine, just are a hair rougher to shave with.

The face and head shave felt scratchy tonight but possibly down to poor preparation before shaving.
I will wait until my day off and use the blade again to know for sure.

What a smashing shave on a cold but sunny morning. A shave after showering using a Marseille soap scented with the Monoi flower to match the shaving combo, a smooth old mush and smell wonderful too. The soap now has a large ring of death so I removed it from the tub and squished it into a ball and place back in the centre of the tub, probably 15 shaves left.
