I suppose I should give fair praise to the humble Gabri shaving soap, which is ... really, quite excellent!

Love the rasp on these vintage blades. Rasp, rasp, rasp, then silent. That's smooth now. Done.

I’m not a huge menthol fan but the soap, splash & balm all have the right amount.
No streaming eyes there’s just enough to give you the cool sensation.
The lather on this has to be the best of the week,
and by the way i’m glad i’m writing the name of this soap down rather than saying it lol.

Prep: Warm shower:/ BULLDOG Peppermint & Eucalyptus Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Wrights Traditional Bar Soap with Coal Tar Fragrance.
Brush: Omega 10051 Boar
Face Lather.
Lather: Arko Shave Stick.
Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated.(D1)
Razor: Parker 24C.

Post:
Cold Water Face & Head Rinse./Cold water face & head wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils.5 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With Care+ Witch Hazel./Yelken Turkish Lemon Eau De Cologne./Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

Relaxing Sunday Morning shave,

An enjoyable Turkish themed close shave to finish the month off wonderfully.

The Arko & Derby shave sticks have both performed superbly throughout the month, especially the Arko shave stick the slickness, protection & post shave feel it gives has excelled the Derby Shave Stick and is now my new favourite Turkish shaving soap...

In my September shave focus I will be carry with a "Shave Stick & Slant September Theme" using my grated together Arko & Palmolive Classic shave sticks Franken-soap mix... For my face shaves I and will be using my Merkur 39C slant DE razors paired together with a continued run of the Russian made Voskhod Teflon Coated DE blades.... For my head/dome shaves I'll be using the Wilkinson Sword Essentials 3 Pivoting Head Cartridge Razor.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

My face is feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

Yeah, following on from last weekend's shave when I used the "tough beard" variant of this vintage Sheffield Special: https://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/community/threads/sotd-august-2026.62359/page-28#post-1009848 ... again, much thanks to @Mike Smart

As far as we can tell, the difference is simply in the angle of the apex - 21 degrees for this blade and 26 degrees for the tough beard variant.

I immediately liked this blade. Not that I didn't enjoy the other type last week, which I'd rate very highly indeed but this one hit that impossible high off 11/10 straight off the bat. I almost got the shave in one pass, needing only one or two pickups ... but was enjoying myself so much I made the second pass and then a third.

I don't really want to use terms like sharp or smooth, which of course this blade is ... both; it's more assured. Despite clinical sharpness still, it's one of those blades that lets you know it's not going to do anything unexpected and it's not going to change its mind.

Very, very enjoyable!

I've used one of the 'tough beard' variants three times now, each time in a Fatboy on setting 6 with some Haslinger shaving soap. I find there's an unusual amount of blade feel especially in something as usually neutral as a Fatboy on this setting but it's by no means uncomfortable. Perhaps there is no coating or if there is the composition is unusual. It certainly shaves very well and no complaints from me at all except that I only have four of these blades left!

I've used the standard gold coloured ones in the past and also found them to be very good. Will need to revisit them when this blade is done for a better comparison.

The coating will almost certainly be nowhere near as advanced as today's coatings ... which personally, I think kinda fills in for less than perfect sharpening and honing in many cases. Here, we're seeing that flipped around with exceedingly good sharpening and honing but perhaps primitive coating.

That 21 degrees is pretty standard and so it will feel little different to many of the blades we use today. 26 degrees is quite hard to find and really you're looking at Treet legacy grinds like their Black Beauty or Falcon, Shark Super Stainless and I think the Big Ben Classic is in that ballpark. Today's trend (certainly amongst the popular Chinese blades and the new Personna PDGs) is to replicate the super-thin apex (18 degrees) paired with more modern sputtering processes and coatings to retain that edge which does reportedly crumble quite rapidly with the likes of the Feather Hi-Stainless.

... and that's the joy of these blades. You're feeling the blade and it is giving its feedback. Embrace that.

Are you sure you’ve used the white tuck ?
i know i have some jewels & sheffield specials but none carry the name comfort
