Hello chaps. I have recently purchased a nifty grater with combined pot/Tupperware thing for the princely sum of 99p including postage:

I can now grate soap without incurring my wife's wrath. From this point forwards, I'll refer to the smaller element of the grater as 'fine' assuming this is the type of bit you'd grate parmesan on and the bigger bit as 'sarnie' noting my preference for this thickness of cheddar with a bit if Branstons in a sandwich.
A couple of questions to your good selves if I may:
1. Based on the soap sample in the picture below, would you grate this as fine or sarnie?
2. Would you grate just enough for the shave or all of it in to a container of sorts?
2.1. If just enough for the shave, how can you make sure the bits don't get sucked up in to the brush and subsequently deposited on to your face as lumps?
2.2. If in to a container, is there a trick for 'setting' the gratings back together or do you leave them loose in there?
3. Does anyone have a preference for shaving hard soaps in to a bowl from large cakes/pucks for each shave?

I doubt my questions have covered everything in this area so please feel free to add any other worldly advice that may be useful.
I always grate my soap sticks and use a finer 'parmesan' grater. The whole stick gets grated in a container and pushed down/compressed using my thumb. I can then pick up enough soap for a shave without having any small 'bits' getting stuck in the brush. Personally, I would do the same for a sample of soap.
Thanks guys. I'm pleased to hear it's nothing more than thumb work!1. Sarnie.
2. Usually grate to fill the container; about 200g for me or 4 sticks of Palmolive.
2.1. Compressing the soap with your thumbs, after grating, into the container is all that is required. The soap will readily form a solid and take the shape of the container. No problems with picking up pieces of grated soap.
2.2 Compress firmly with thumbs...this is all that is required.
3. I only grate shave sticks (Palmolive, Speick, Valobra, Arko, Wilkinson, Lea etc.) or press in Italian croaps from kilo blocks.
Below are pictures of 200g of grated Palmolive (4 sticks) and 100g of grated Speick (2 sticks); you can see it looks like any other hard puck of shaving soap and performs the same. No bits to pick-up!

This is the one I bought:Anyone tell me where I can get this grater? Any recommendations for other graters (cheap)?
Thanks, Micheal
I also noticed it getting warm and melting some so that's a good idea putting it in the freezer.Whenever I've grated soaps I put the soap in the freezer for an hour or so. This makes it easier to grate through the finer type without it getting too clogged.
