Well I bought a Simpsons Duke and now I want, I need more, I'm giving some thought to the 56 or 57, anyone got one of these?

As long as it's Simpsons Best it will be fine. Be sure to ask for confirmation about both knot size and loft if that is important for you. I'd go for a minimum knot of 22 mm and max loft of 50 mm. I really don't understand why Simpsons and many other retailers don't provide these details on their websites. More and more enthusiasts know what they want these days.

Thanks Peter,
I have emailed them, this model seems to be popular over the pond but there's a lot of conflicting information.

I seem to of learnt between your brush and the duke that 22mm knot and between 45mm and 50mm is best for me.

Did you go with 56 or 57?

I don't know where you shop but these retailers/vendors list the specs:

Of the list provided, Shavemac the only manufacturer has the brush specs listed as well. To be fair G&C recently added specs a few months back and Classic's horrid rainbow Rooney brushes don't have specs listed. Are you referring to manufacturers like Kent who lists nothing while Simpsons list the overall height?

Hello Ivan,

I went with the 57 in the end, the issue i found after emailing Simpsons was all the vendors have the wrong height listed because their website is wrong, they list the 57 at something like 107mm tall, in reality its 101mm (53mm handle and 48mm loft).

In the end i went for a 57 handle in 2 band super badger, 53mm handle and 52mm loft and im very pleased now its bedded in.

Of all my brushes the Simpsons B4 Pure is one that was short lofted from 50 mm down to 43 mm. Not a worry though as I generally prefer shorter scrubby lofts. I've Boar and Horse that are much softer.

Things are improving on the provision of brush specs. Thanks Ivan. But there are significant gaps like Simpsons and Kent as you indicate.

How do you know there have been changes if at all? I've seen the same information on aforementioned vendors for well over a year.
