Shimming

Does any one here shim their razor if so does it make a mild razor more aggressive ? Or will it just tear my face off ( I have only just stopped tearing my face off so I'm probably not going to it ) but there are very conflicting reviews on this on the ol interweb.

I would suggest to stick with one combo of mild razor and blade and just practice until you can get a smooth and cut free shave every time.

If you change too many things, you wont learn about the things you are doing wrong and will blame it on the equipment instead.

Like many things in life, you will instinctively know when it really is time to change.

I used to shim razors just for experimentation in the early days and it does change the characteristics of a razor but I don't bother doing it now. You can play around with shims and make a really mild razor a little more assertive or just get a blade that suits the razor. It's a bit of fun I suppose.

Me also, but in the end I concluded a total waste of time.
