Shaving right under the nose...

Agree with you, Mike.

Constant changes to your routine will never give good results.

Find a combination of kit that gives you good results.

Chemical allergies?? Then stay away from that product.

Fragrance likes?? Then get more of that type.

Settle on a brush type. Issues with animal products, then get synthetic.

Settle on a Razor type. Lots of niche razors around at the moment but are they an improvement?? Why are people so keen to get their hands on vintage stuff? Because it works so well.

Once you have your kit assembled then start branching out with more variation. Edwin Jagger have a zillion different 89s. If you like "sandalwood" (for instance) then get more "sandalwood" products.

Blades are so cheap at the moment that it is difficult to not collect a decent stash but there is no need to go overboard. Stick to two or three brands OR two or three countries of manufacture.

To tell you the truth I've gone through a massive experimentation. I had never used a DE razor before but finding out works and what cuts your face to ribbons has been quite fun. But know knowing what works I'm just going to stick to it.

Razors which cover the blade tabs are most difficult to use for right under the nose.

Blackbird and progress are both easy as i can get the blade edge to grab the pesky stubble.
It's a bit tricky with the GreenCult as the tabs are covered and the blade edge doesn't reach due to the wider top cap.

Yep, if the head is wider, the cutting edge is farther away from the end of the razor. I can't stand covered tabs. The head should be as small as possible.
