Another day of learning.

Muhle R41 (fourth attempt to get on with it - this time with a red personna)
Kent BK8 Silvertip
TOBS Coconut
DR Harris A/S milk
Dirty Bird Scuttle (with hot water from tap)

Thought I'd give the R41 another chance. Still perhaps too cautious and with some misgivings about open combe, it really did give a close comfortable shave today. Once again brought home the importance of not judging new products too quickly. The Kent gets better with every use. I lather with swift short paint brush motion and it works a treat. And the scuttle. I am so glad I got it. Normal tap water gave a pleasant warming to three full and one touch up pass.

Another fine shaving experience down in the Forest. And thanks to Guy for mentioning the red personna/R41 combo.

Arsenal v Spurs next. Then Pompey at 3pm. Busy day.

Saturday:
Gold Gillette #66 / Personna Blade (Red Pack)
Simpson Duke 2 (Pure)
Truefitt & Hill Soap*
D R Harris Pink AS
D R Harris AS Milk
Czech & Speake #88

*Bought Lewis' own brand soap yesterday - it is the same stuff - now, what do I call my soap . . . "Generic Lavender-scented Tripple-milled Soap" or is it still T&H until I actually change it?

Re: Shave of the day w/c 31 October 2009

Saturday:

Merkur HD
Feather
Tabac Soap
Boots No. 7 Moisturiser
Marc Jacobs Cologne

Today was a special shave as it was the first time I had used a Feather for about 2 months; the reason being is that I had used up my supply and i felt I had to use up some of the blades remaining from sampler pack; Gillete swedes, 7 O'clock all very good blades but when I used the Feather today, it was a WOW moment; great, great shave. can't find anything to beat the Feather for comfort and closeness.

Cheers Rousey

Saturday:

"my new" DR.Harris badged Edwin Jagger DE87 razor with new head
Gillette 7o'clock yellow blade
Simpson CH1/best brush
Trumper Rose soap
DR.Harris milk

Great shave. Very pleased with the results today, so my DE87 is now going into my travel kit with two boxes of 7o'clocks.

PS: went to two B&M bargain places today to find Blue Stratos but to no avail

Saturday

Best badger brush by Chris
Flare tip Rocket
Gillette 7 o'clock yellow

Wool Fat
Proraso pre / post

I've got a sore face at the moment: something has been causing irritation over the last week, so it's back to the above foolproof combination for the time being. Once I'm back to normal I'll try to isolate what the problem is (I have my suspicions).

Re: Shave of the day w/c 31 October 2009

Saturday

Trumpers violet cream
Semogue 2015
Ikon open comb Gillette Super Thin D1
Gillette Old open comb- above blade
Alum
Thayers with Aloe

I started with the Ikon and managed WTG passes on the cheeks. I then switched to what is known as an agressive razor so that I could get a great shave. I am disappointed with Ikons performance. It looks great & feels good in the hands, that it. I ended up with a great BBS shave with the Old.

Sunday

The Fat
Semogue 1305
Gillette Old open comb
Gillette Super Thin D2
Alum
Thayers with Aloe

Great shave, I am liking the fat.
