Monday

With Robert's video fresh in mind I had a late shave this morning.

Merker 38C, Derby Extra
Simpsons best badger Duke 3
Castle Forbes Lavender cream
DR Harris milk balm

Followed Robert's advice. Single slow down pass, single slow up pass. At that point I was still like a hedgehog - probably a technique thing or blade not sharp enough. More gentle passes in different directions and all is well. Applied more balm than usual. What a difference!

This is a nice combination. Went on to lunch with an old friend. He wants our next lunch to be in Hungerford.

Monday

Wilkinson Sword Classic
WS Blade (the ones that come with the razor)
Men-U Boar
Body Shop Maca root S/C
Harvard A/S

Saw the razor in Boots today and thought for £4 it was worth a try and I'm really impressed with it. Definately an inexpensive gym bag/travel option :D

As for the rest of the kit, I believe someone coined the phrase 'high street shave' recently, I think this qualifies

Monday:

The Boreal is working well. It is along way from been broken in. The Gem is a Gem!

Tuesday

Gillette NEW
Gillette Platinum Blade
EJ Best Badger
L'Ome Shaving Soap + Real Shaving Co Moisturising Shave Cream Mix
Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil to moisturise.

Using the "Robert Johnston" method, (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=544) I managed a very decent shave indeed!

2 passes, with stretching of the skin was very comfortable (and quick!). Not as close as I'd like, but very passable indeed. Nice.

Tuesday:
Gillette Rocket HD / Personna (red pack) Blade
Crabtree & Evelyn Pure Badger Brush
Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
Taylors of Old Bond St #74 Victorian Lime Aftershave

Tuesday

Fatboy and a Swede (3)
La Toja stick
Alum, witch hazel, Taylor's Balm.

Left it at that, no aftershave or EdT.

Fantastic shave after yesterday's crap awful shave. Same hardware yesterday, but with a Palmolive stick and somehow it just didn't work out. Today was great though. The La Toja is becoming a favourite, up there with Arko and Irisch Moos. A lot of it, I think, could be down to mood and attitide. Yesterday I couldn't get up for the 6 am walk, had had too much the night before and had a bad day at the office to look forward to. This morning the walk was great and the shave just topped it off.

Kent BK4
Tabac
1955 Flair Tip Rocket
Gillette Super Thin (6 - uncharted territory for me - but it did start to pull on pass 3)
Thayer's Witch Hazel Aftershave

I shall load up another Super Thin tomorrow to see what transpires.

Please could you divulge your Thayer's supplier?

Omega boar

Palmolive soap
Proraso pre/post afterwards

One of the combinations which works really well for me, that.

Something on the list to check out - I wonder if Palmolive soap (bar?) has the same ingredients as the stick? If it has, I have an idea.

regards
