Shave of the day Saturday 12th August- Fri 18th August 2017

Hi Paul,
Guess I will not be looking for A Rocnel in the near future, stick with the oldies. Just wait till you get those
1924s which have been put aside for you .

Saturday 12th August

Truefitt & Hill No10
Yaqi Brush
Rockwell 6c ~ 3
Astra SP ~ 1
Lavender witch hazel
Proraso Green ASL
Paul Smith Men EDT

I bought my evening shave forward as I couldn't wait to try my new Yaqi brush.
It certainly whips up a good lather. I know T&H doesn't need much coaxing to erupt, but the brush got to work without hesitation and my lather bowl was full of glossy rich lather within 30 seconds.
I wanted a smooth shave today so went with the Rockwell on plate 3 paired with a new Astra SP.
Three passes executed without mishap.
A generous spraying of Paul Smith EDT has left me smelling fresh.

Omega 11126 boar
Stirling Baker Street
Mongoose B3
Feather Pro [ 6 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Tuff Green A/S Lotion

Nice to get back the Mongoose from loan, was greatly appreciated too as my Shaving friend has managed to get his own.

Reloaded with the blade set aside, had another cracking Shave. Weighty it might be, but that weight does not affect the ease with which one can attain a smooth and comfortable shave. In fact the process of laying the Razor on the face assures you after the first stroke that the Shave will go well.

You are correct there Mike, I wanted a new gem type razor and I now know I bought the right one in the Sabre , the Rocnel is not for me but you can't beat the oldies for value and the quality of shave they give with the right blade is hard to better .I am looking forward to the razors we have talked about, and I will be in touch next week regarding the first one. Enjoy the rest of your weekend P.

Wonderful beard and head shave with an unbranded chrome version of the head Maggard sells as its V3A and Razorock as the Mentor. Boss Razor handle. I never cared for the always mismatched gunmetal finish of the V3A. This is a noisy and blade feely mofo but with the BIC had no problem going ATG on my head for a 2 pass plus BBS. I like it. $5.17 shipped (eBay).

Do you think it actually IS a Tuxedo Knot?

I must confess, I know very little about brushes so I can't say.
However, I just watched a YouTube video about Tuxedo and Tuxedo-A-Like knots, to try to educate myself on the subject a little.
I'm afraid I'm not much the wiser, except with regard the density aspect.

Here is a photo of the top of the knot

It seems to be pretty tightly packed, and has decent resistance/backbone whilst having VERY soft tips. You can see the "hooked" ends at the tips.
Compared to my RazoRock 400 , it has much more backbone, but didn't feel stiff in use.

Sorry I can't be of any more help

Shave of the day - Saturday 12/8 -

Razor - 1912
Blade - Gem (3)
Brush - Stirling 2-band fan
Soap - T&H No. 10
Post - Witch hazel
A/S - Myrsol Agua de Limon
Balm - BBA
Scent - Dior Eau de Sauvage.

Result - great. Highly unusually for me, shaving two days in a row. I didn't need to - strictly speaking - but it was so much fun yesterday that I couldn't resist. New stuff to try I think was also a factor. Normally my skin gets a bit antsy if I shave too often but I think this razor is so mild and comfortable in use I can get away with it. I'll stop going on about it soon - I promise. Thank you to the gentlemen that minded me to dig out a tub of No.10 from the den. I'm not sure why it hasn't been on deck for some time. It's superb. Super lather - and slicker than the Exxon Valdez - if you haven't tried it you should. For a tenner it's not a big punt. The scent is not much to write home about - lightly citrus - but that's not the point, the performance and ease of lathering are top end for me. First use of the BBA balm that gets so much love around here. It's red! Why did nobody warn me about that? I wasn't expecting that. Dragon's Blood? You're having a laugh. Other than the obvious answer - what the hell is dragon's blood? I think I would have liked a note on the labeling telling me that it was sourced from free-range dragons - living a happy life in Wales. No dragons were harmed harvesting this ingredient - it's part of the normal dragon grooming process. Joking aside - you can't fault the performance. Easily absorbed and my skin is smooth and hydrated. Nice. A few squirts of Sauvage and off into the night. I smell lovely - even if I do say so myself. Enjoy your shaves - yours - I.

@Wayne Pritchard - thanks again for the razor.

Vie Long 13061b
ATT Calypso M1
Personna Super (3)
Calani Oriental Plum
Thayers Rose & Ard Al Zaafaran Oud 24 Hours

A later shave today, busy morning rounding up pheasants! I love this soap, the scent is very rich and the lather top quality, always mean to get the balm to go with it. The Vie Long makes a great lather, breaking in slowly but surely, perfect size for me. Been a while since I used the Oud, one of the best in my stash.
